I'm not sure what you mean here...the 3PH on the 3203 has the same functionality as Deere's other tractors.

What I think you may mean is the 3203 has no offseat PTO capabilities.
Unlike all other Deere CUTs (at least the ones I'm familar with), there is a procedure in the manual to operate the PTO (for a chipper, generator, log splitter or any other reason one would use a stationary power unit) with the operator off the seat.
The 3203 doesn't have the feature which, IMHO, reduces this machine to being a big lawn mower.

If this isn't what you were writing about, please copy or link the post you're referencing.

Nope,

What we mean is that there's no position control. It's not that you can't control the 3PH, but just as on the other advantage series tractors, there is no scale where you can gauge the return of the implement to a certain position. While using a box blade or RFM this can be a bit of a pain, but it certainly doesn't mean the 3PH isn't useable.

I`m sorry, I should have included 3ph position control. You folks haven`t talked about it lately, and I considered this tractor and I didn`t know what was meant by it. I`m used to having no gauge for the 3ph. Just use it by feel. thanks for the replys.

The 790's rockshaft lever (controls the 3PH height) has a movable stop so you can control the height of an implement in the lowered position.

I looked at the 3203 manual (and the 790's manual). The 3203 manual shows the rockshaft lever's location, but doesn't go into any explanation about how it's used.

I'm not familar with the 3203..other then what I've read here and other tractor sites (including the Deere site). It really seems like Deere dropped the ball on this tractor.

Thanks for the correction, gentlemen!

Roy,

It's just like the 2210/2305, you have to return it to a setting by sight or feel. It's one of those things that would have cost Deere all but $50 to include, but I understand; if the 3203 had a mid-PTO, Deere backhoe, and position control, why would you buy a 3120 (yeah I know there are other niceties to its big brothers)?

The 3203 does have position control. It uses the same control valve as the 3120-3720. Deere did take away the mid PTO option, the eHydro, turning brakes, nice seat, tilt steering and a few other things, but they did leave the position control on the rockshaft.

Nope, the 3203 has no position control. I've now spent several hours cutting on uneven terrain with my 3203 and have yet to encounter a problem. You look at the position you used when the terrain was even, set the 3 point there again, and off you go.

My thinking is that JD wanted to make a tractor that would offer more guts than the smaller compact utility tractors but save costs by sacrificing the frills of the upper-end CUTs. I believe the 3203 fits the bill nicely.

Keep in mind JD incorporated some safety features that some users might find undesirable. Then again, depending on your applications, you might find some of these safety features useful. In my case my teen-aged girls will be operating the PTO for a pull-behind sprayer and I don't want them off the tractor while that thing's running. Like I said, it's all in the application.
