3235 Hydro Filter

I went to Lowes today and they had 3 Cub Cadet Hydro filters 723-3014 left, which I bought. The documentation with my 3235 calls for 923-3014 which apparently has replaced the 723-3014. I see other filters listed which cross reference to either number and the dimensions seem to be the same. Does anyone know what was changed and if there is any problem using the 723-3014? Thanks,

Good question Bob. Cant find any info on the one that starts with a 7. WIX specs this filter for your trans: http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51410
I use the carquest equiv of the 51410 on my 2544.

7 was changed to 9.

I changed the hydro filter today after jacking up the front as high as I could get it. Lost maybe less than a pint of oil. The original filter was a 723-3014 and not a 923-3014 so I guess the older number is definitely OK to use. I have 2 more spares at $11.98 each from Lowes. I'm not sure what my Cub dealer charges but it's a 30 mile round trip to buy one.

The 723-3014 and 923-3014 filters are the same part. CCC has been changing the prefixes on part numbers over the years.

The V-belts are prefixed either 754- or 954- and as long as the last 4 part numbers are the same, the parts are the same. Whether it has a 754- or 954- prefix does not matter.

I changed my tran fluid today and replaced my hyd filter w/a Bosch brand that crossed over from the Cub...tractor(2154) wouldnt move...put oem 3014 cub filter on & worked great! hated to pay 3x the Bosh best preminm filter price, but it worked, guess I will continue to use OEM from now on.
