3130HST won\'t start

I had been working the tractor off and on all day, shut it down to go in and eat dinner, went back out to clean things up and put tractor away and it wouldn't start (engine wouldn't turn-over). All I got was an error message on dash panel saying "HST NEUTRAL" tried to rock HST pedal back and fourth to see if it was stuck in foward or reverse still won't crank. I don't see any type of neutral switch down on the HST pedal or linkage. Anyone had similar problems?

Re: 3130HST won\'t start

What range is the HST range selector lever in? I thought that was what that light was for. The lever has to be in neutral, doesn't it?

I think you just have to push the clutch in on the 3130... BX requires neutral.

Re: 3130HST won\'t start

On the L30's, you have a sensor at the HST pedal. If you are in anyway putting pressure on the pedal, it will not start. Since you are not putting pressure on it, verify you don't have a stick stuck in the switch or it is somehow impeded from functioning. Could be a bad switch.

It won't start in low, medium, or high nor in neutral and always with the clutch pushed in. I looked for a neutral switch @ HST pedal but couldn't find, only saw short linkage going from pedal to shaft that goes into the tractor trans area.

Make sure the cruise control lever is in the off position

Re: 3130HST won\'t start

Had an idea, got my son to get on tractor push in clutch turn ignition switch on, hold brake for safety meanwhile, I took a jumper wire to the starter and got tractor started. I had him pull it into garage and shut it down and then try and restart, nothing, still won't start. At least it's in the garage and out of the middle of the pasture. I will try and look at it further tomorrow.

Re: 3130HST won\'t start

Also make sure the PTO is disengaged. The information telling you it was the HST pedal tells me the HST pedal sensor is either bad or out of adjustment if there is any. I don't know where it is but do know that with even a little pressure on the HST, it will not start. You have a set of interlocks, clutch, HST, PTO that all must in "neutral" to allow the engine to start.

Re: 3130HST won\'t start

I just recently had the similar problem with my 2910. I had been working it for several days moving dirt. When I came back from dumping a truckload of soil, I had a none starting tractor.
The 2910 don’t have an indicator light, but some one here at TBN mentioned about the hydro pedal positioning being the likely culprit. I eventually stumbled upon the method of holding in the clutch and the key to start while either cycling the cruise lever and/or the HST pedal through it's travel to get it to start.
If memory serves me, about half of the time I would push the cruise lever all the way down, and them back up, and then the engine would turn over. The rest of the time, I would push the hydro pedal way the way down or just rock it in the approximately middle position to get the starter to engage.
This occurred about 10-20 times during the excavation project, but for the last 10ish starts all seems normal. I didn't have any foreign objects in the linkage, but the pedal was 'sluggish', and was not retuning to the neutral position.

Hope this helps!

Re: 3130HST won\'t start

I think the problem is definitely in the HST pedal sensor/switch but I don't know the location of it, whether it is external or internal mounted. I will try and cycle the cruise lever and attempt to start it again this afternoon. When my son and I got it started last night by jumping the starter out the tractor didn't try and lurch forward or reverse so I am sure that the hydro is in a neutral position and that the switch/sensor doesn't realize it.
