Helping a friend with this machine, no start. Finally figured out the more complicated than necessary neutral safety switch is the culprit.
Is it acceptable to bypass the switch on a hydrostatic model? Thanks in advance.

Don't see a harm to that. My 4300 HST doesn't have a neutral safety switch. And see no need for it.

My LS HST never had one and the one on the Kubota was jumpered some time 17-18 years ago.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "acceptable". It is a manufacturer-installed safety feature (like a ROPS) and in the past, you have indicated that you think such features should be used.

"So far so good. That is no guaranty of the future. But you have the choice to not use it. Like not using a seat belt. You do you. It doesn't prevent other people from noticing."

So I guess it is up to you to decide if you want to recommend someone defeat a safety feature that could result in them getting run over by their tractor.

Generally, bypassing the neutral safety switch isn't recommended. It's there for a reason, safety. While it might seem like a simple fix, you're removing a crucial safety feature that prevents accidental starting while the machine is in gear.

Is that the only feature that prevents tractor movement when starting or are there requirements before tractor will start like operator presence in the seat, clutch being depressed, etc.?

If this is an HST transmission that safety switch also helps reduce load on the starter since wouldn’t be trying to move tractor while starting.

To answer your question… no safety switches are needed till someone gets injured and lawsuits erupt.

The tractor will not try to move until to throttle pedal is depressed.
