3000 series deck hydraulics

ive got a 3185 and the deck will not stay where i set it. it drops as im cutting. im figuring the valve is good, but the lift ram may be due for a rebuild. is this item rebuildable? or do i have to replace it? is this the likely culprit for this?

I have a 3000 series too, but always thought the wheels on the deck were suppose to keep it up - I don't think I would rely on just the hydraulics to mintain an even height.

im not doing that this summer, i just figured that the older cubs held the deck up that these would too, but the older ones werent dealing with a 400lb deck.
