3 spool hydraulic valve

I have a 3 spool hydraulic valve that I use to run my backhoe. On spool # 1 (first one to receive power) I have a detent on it to provide continuous flow to the backhoe. On the second valve I run a hydraulic thumb. In order to run the thumb I must put valve 1 in neutral.

If I move the backhoe to valve 2 (moving the detent), and the thumb to valve 1, will the thumb have power if the detent in valve 2 is engaged (ie power to the backhoe)?

I doubt that will work but you could try without swapping the detent by simply switching the hoses and manually hold the 2nd position and see if the 1st operates

I think it would work but agree with Oldnslo - test it out how he's outlined. and report back! I'm curious to hear the outcome as I'll be doing something similar one day.
