Well I ought to say "Trust no one, not even yourself"
Better to check everything one extra time and as many others have noted, no machine breaks down because it has been lubricated to much.
My tractor gets a squeeze of greese in every lubrication point after use, even though it only runs a couple of hours each month during summer.
As my aviator friend says often, "check lists are there for a reason, humans always makes misstakes".
