my rock shaft starts to come down slow and controlled be then if completely lets the disk fall. Rate of drop screw or check valve. JD401-B

Don't offhand have a clue. Is this the Industrial model of around early 70's ?

Rockshaft(3 pt) rate of drop screw is parts key 18. Loosen lock nut and turn screw clockwise to slow 3 pt decent.
