3 point carry all, build or buy?

I’m buyinng mine from TSC tomorrow. I don’t own a welder or I would attempt to make one. Learning to weld is a goal I have though
It's almost a necessity if you are going to use your tractor, plus a lot of fun. I honestly believe that if things like welding were more prominently taught in school there would be a lot fewer problem kids, and less need to control them with drugs.

I got a used set of 3pt pallet forks - I found these more useful that a dedicated carryall - I have several different boxes built for different thing and I can just back up grab them and go. Just my .02

Totally agree! This is the only way to do it. Wood crates are free.

I agree. My wife comes from a family of welders. I should have plenty of teachers. I’ve already seen a change in my kids since we moved to property. Lots to do and none of it includes electronics

Can't argue with that logic if one can find a set at a great price - I always look if for no other reason than to get another pair of forks for the FEL forklift attachment I already have. I would do this for sure if I could find them less expensive than a simple carryall attachment that I could adapt.

Have any Canadians managed to find a distributor ANYWHERE in Canada that will sell a carry all?
My local dealerships (three different tractor companies) have catalogues that show carry-alls - but after calling around, none of them actually carry them.

Regarding the boards - 6 inch overhand on each end? 2x8s or 10s? Read a few threads and don't recall seeing the board sizes, which of course can vary from user to user.

If you’re referring to my carry-all, it’s a copy of MMfromPA Carry-all. Check out his YouTube video

One very important note concerning the trailer hitch, as I have it installed; it ain’t good for pulling logs out of a pile! I knew better but broke the 2”x10” board that the hitch is mounted to. I’ve since replaced it but I may end up welding a piece of 3” angle across to mount the hitch to.

Personally, I bought the King Kutter frame from a local tractor dealer. I think I paid less than $150 out the door. Probably could make it for less, but hey, my time is worth something. I have got an overview of mine on my YouTube channel. For those interested, please take a look.

I find the Outdoor with the Morgans videos quite useless. They have the perfect tool for everything and never have to find a way. Just way to cut and dried and not reality.

I agree the Morgan You Tube is a guide on what a rich person should buy to do work around the property from mowing a large acrage to cutting and hauling fire wood. He is also a fire wood snob with a splitter he pitches Knots into the ditches.

Built mine last year. Casters underneath to help roll around. Two spots for chainsaws and tubes for shovels or rakes. I also added a trailer hitch for the wood splitter. IMG_20170924_135658.jpgIMG_20170924_135648.jpg

I see you used the TSC carry all frame too. I've attached a few pics of the one I built, and here are the links to the YouTube videos showing what the carry can do and how to build it:

Let me know if you find any of the ideas useful.

That looks good! I'm going to have to break down and make one of these!

Side note - do you have any videos or design docs for the overhead extension (carport?) seen in 5 pictures as I see them (view from back of tractor with ladder in carry all)? Looking to extend something from the back of my detached garage to shed my tractor and stuff.

Seems like you have a lot of heavy wood there which means a lot of weight which means reduced carry capacity. That may not matter for larger machines, but could be a deal killer for smaller ones. Sure, we could scale down. But why not use lighter materials to begin with? 2" PVC Electrical conduit and fittings could be used for framing. If sides were needed, there are lightweight perforated panels available. Solid panels and sealants could be used for weather protection of tools that might be left/stored in it.

I don't see where you have anything loaded that needs such a stout box, nor do I see that you have a way to close and lock it or to protect anything from the weather.

I am thinking about a carry-all as a project next year. Unfortunately, for one like the TSC, CountryLine or King Kutter in Canada, I would have to pay at minimum 500 dollars, provided I could even FIND one and get it shipped. I have been to three tractor dealerships and when they made inquiries to their suppliers, they get a Not Available answer. I am going to get a bunch of 3x3 quarter-inch angle iron, and see if mu neighbour can weld it up. The iron will cost about 175, plus the 2 cases of beer for the neighbour.
