I have a 2940 John Deere, hydraulics work fine at high idle. On idle in low range in about 30-40 sec. Main pump relaxes. In high takes about 5-10 sec.. Rev engine up and everything comes back. Any help

Not familiar with the 2940 JD so I may be missing necessary information. You say it works fine at high idle then state in high takes about 5-10 sec for main pump to relax. Bit confused as to what you are saying.
Questions. What is/are the manifestation of failure. Slow bleed of pressure on hydraulic rams? Do you hear the pump straining? Relief valve opening? Have you put a pressure gauge on the system? Assuming you have owned it for a long time did this start happening out of the blue or after some type of maintenance on the system? Without knowing any more than you have stated wonder if the pump is starting to go and needs the higher RPM to sustain the pressure on the system.

Pump could be bypassing or sucking air.

Do you have any air bubbles in the hyd fluid or is the fluid foamy?
