2940 3 point stuck up

we were using this tractor, started shuddering and 3 point moved up and got stuck there. 3 pt lever and draft control lever would not move. I have dis assembled the rock shaft. everything looked ok, levers moved freely again even though I don't know what caused them to stick. . loader valves on internal piston moved freely. I even took them apart , looked ok. put everything back together, reinstalled and the arms moved to the top again. what am I missing. ?? the only way I can get fluid back out of the internal cylinder is to take the adjustment screw under the seat out , with the check ball. if I push the cylinder on the bench and hold the valve open it comes out the adjustment screw hole. sorry to ramble but this is a pain. fluid is full. the 3 point always stayed up overnight with a load on it. we only use this for light work, hay hauling.

when on the bench how can I test the lift cylinder before I put it back in the tractor. as you know this is very heavy to work with. we have an ag pro dealer 15 minutes away from me that I can get parts from. I have not asked them for help.

Is cam follower in correct location(behind roller) in 3 pt control linkage? Is spring attached correctly?

thanks for the reply, i was not able to get back to the tractor till last saturday. i built a boom pole and put it on the end of my other tractor to better control re assembly. since i had the cylinder out i went ahead and replaced the cylinder orings . dropped every thing back in place watch ing to make sure the cam went between the forks. everything is working great now, thanks.

i bought the seals and c clips at united ag and turf in taylor. lost several of those in the grass. they were over a dollar per piece. ouch. thanks for the reply
