So I am in the market for a used B. I am pretty well set on a B2620 with a 60" MMM and a FEL, but I am wondering, if in my search for a good deal, if I happen to find one on a 2920 or say a 2630, is there any reason not to get one of these over the 2620?

I feel like in my reading on TBN there has been some (possibly unsubstantiated) mention of the 2920 running a little rougher or louder than the 2620, which, since one of my primary purposes is mowing the lawn, might not be enjoyable. Anything to this? Any other downside? Reliability? anything like that?

The 2630 I wasnt even aware of until one turned up recently nearby. sounds a lot like the 2601 in that it has tile steering wheel (which I might really like...I am 6'6" and found climbing in and out of the 2620 a little tighter than I would like on a tractor), more lift on the 3ph, and position control. Downsides would be that it is slightly heavier than the 2620 which might not be ideal for lawn mowing (and doing so over a septic), the control for the FEL comes out of the dash which was a problem for me on the BX I test drove as my gigantor knees kept hitting it, the longer wheelbase which might make it less maneuverable for lawn mowing (again, a primary function), and i dont know what years they made them for, but a 2630 would likely be a few years older than a 2620/2920.

Thoughts?

The B-2630 is a larger chassis tractor that will give you a larger mower potential as well as a higher lift capacity loader. Great tractor with position control hitch.

in continuing to read some other threads, one downside for me might be that the 2630 uses a rolling mower deck? as opposed to the suspended on on the 2x20 that people seem to prefer.

It is my opinion if you come across a good deal on any of the three (B2620, B2920, or B2630), considering your stated uses, you would be wise to jump on it. I have no experience with the 2620 or 2630, but I have a 2920. I believe any reference to it running rougher or louder is probably somewhat exaggerated. I do not consider the B2920 to run rough or to be loud at all considering what it is. I would be surprised if you would be able to tell much difference in noise level between the three models you mentioned.

I had an L2900 for years, not the same tractor as the B2920, and it was very quiet.

For your primary intended use of mowing I would consider the 20 series over the 30. The reason I say that is only because of the weight difference, in that the 20 series will weigh less. I think the suspended mower will also be an advantage. I have a B3030, which is the same frame size as a B2630. I use it for everything I do and it is a great tractor, including mowing lawn with the 60" deck. It is on the heavy side though, for mowing a finely manicured lawn. I don't have a finely manicured lawn so it does fine for my two acres of country residential grass. Also, I did not like the ground following deck because of the unsightly tracks left by the rear wheels. I modified mine so the rear is carried by chains attached to the frame and removed the rear wheels completely. It leaves a much better look. You could also do that if you buy the B2630, but if mowing is going to be your main use and you don't need the extra loader capacity then I would think you would be happier with a 20 series. Good luck.

The weight difference between the B2620/2920 and the B2630 is roughly 230# w/o FEL. I will leave it to you to decide if that is significant or not. It could be the loader the B2630 uses adds a little more weight difference but probably not much. If you intend to take the FEL off when mowing then the FEL weight is not a deal anyway.

I don't have a MMM but it seems the most significant consideration is the point made above about the suspended mower on the 20 series vs the type the 2630 has.

The turning radius is the same for all three.

Have you considered the B2320?

I had a 2920 and didn't notice any difference in the engine behavior/feel with the 2620. Now, the B3200 does have a buzzier engine, because it's a four cylinder (the others are threes).

The B2630 is a larger, more deluxe tractor. It's current equivalent would be the new B2650.

i dont think i am interested in a 2320...less HP, less PTO HP, smaller loader etc..

Prob looking at the 2920, found a good deal. The 2630 doesnt have the attachments I want...but if anyone else is interested
