John Deere 790
I have a 27hp John Deere 790. It is 4wd. I am going to purchase a loader for it with my tax refund. I am considering a John Deere, a Bush Hog, or a Rhino. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!!

My prefference would be for the JD loader since it's still available, should be the 300cx I think.

I'm with kenny. Don't know about rhino but I do know I don't like bush hog loaders. Friend has one on a new holland. My 790 had the 70 loader with no quick attach. It would have been real nice with a 300 loader.

I have a790 TLB with a JD loader bought used and love it. If it had a different loader I would not have bought it.
The other brand loader might have one advantage here and one disadvantage there, but loaders should match tractors from a resale point of view. Sometimes it doesn't matter, and I have mixed loaders and tractors and loaders before, but usually it does.
As posted before, only QT. I can detach mine in a minute or two.

I will second pretty much everyone has said.... O.E.M. A jd 300 loader or the 300x will fit. The 300x cost a little more, due to bigger cylinders and other items. I think mine, the 300 was 3 grand new, 3 years ago. A deere FEL is and will be the best match for a deere tractor. Purpose build for a specific tractor size, hp and ease of getting to engine compartment and such for service without removing loader.:D But due to being a "deere" loader both models will cost more than aftermarket loaders

The deere 300 series FEL have similar features of the westendorf line of loaders I have noticed.....

Although, less spent on the loader leaves more cabbage for other attachments for the loader:) Just make sure its a QA "quick attach" The loader itself AND the tool carrier if you go aftermarket.:D

Don't get hung up on brands. Get the one that gives you the best lift with the lowest cost.

The JD loader includes the JDQA (John Deere Quick Attach) standard for the bucket mounting.

Before I bought my 790 less than a year ago, I checked with JD, Bush Hog & Koyker dealers about loaders in case I found a tractor without a loader. Not really much price difference between the three! So personally, I would go with the JD. These were general estimates, as I didn't know what JD compact I would buy.

Found a 790 w/300 loader BTW. ~~ grnspot110

I don't think the 300CX will work with the 790, the 300 or 300x should.

Congrats.
Now find the thread on greasing a front end loader.
In short, use moly based, grease every 10 hours or sooner and do not track any of this nastly grease in the house.
All will then be well with the spouse.

Please post some photos as opportunity presents itself.
Good luck.

Wize words sixdogs:D I think you will like the deere loader. With the QA feature of the loader and the tool carrier its a good set up thats purpose built to fit your tractor with a LOT of different attachments available.... You will be using your tractor more also:D

Smart man! I'll agree here - don't leave yourself short in the performance arena. Just got back from the National Farm Machinery Show and talked with alot of people who went the oem route and were left wanting for more. - With 300x you'll get 999# at 90" 500mm from pin (2500psi) with TA-111 you'll get over 1400# to 99" 500 mm from the pin (1800psi). Also comes in green to match. You will be able to stack or haul what you want where you want it without any hesitation.
