kubota 2410 with loaded R4s
Hi Guys,

I have a close friend that wants to buy a 2710 w/backhoe and possibly a mmm. He wants to buy now! I'm trying to hold him back. I'd like to see him get the best deal that he can of course. Anyone have a purchase price on this combo?
Which backhoe should he go with? Woods or, Kubota?

Thanks Guys,
winchman

p.s. I have to admit I'm jealous and wish I was buying again.

I bought the 3010 with the kubota bh primarily because the dealers in my area were very gunshy on warranty of any tractor with another bh on it. I do like the pictures and specs that i've seen on a woods model

In the fall of 2000 I purchased a B2710 with LA402 loader w/ 54" bucket (including grill guard) for $15,400 and a BL4690A backhoe w/ 16" bucket for $5,540 in Ohio. I am very satisfied with the strength, quality and performance of each.

I recently purchased a 72" KingKutter rear finish mower from Quality Farm & Fleet for $769. My initial impression is positive though I've only used it once to cut a sled riding path through a partially snowcovered meadow (which had been unmowed for over a year). I didn't intend to use my Kubota for mowing but my ailing JD318 w/ 54" deck pursuaded me that the $769 was a good investment compared to buying a new lawn tractor.

I can't comment on the Woods backhoe or the Kubota MMM but those who have them appear to be generally satisfied. Given the option of doing things over again, I would make the same choice.

If your friend is going to get a Kubota MMM. Then a Kubota 4690 Backhoe would be the best choice. It is compatible with a MMM.

I just purchased a year 2000 model, 2710 with hsd, loader 402, bh 4690, 4x4, power steering, rops, grill guard, with 195 hrs total on meter, for $16,000. 10", 16" and a 24" bh buckets were included. I think this was a good deal, any feedback would be appreciated.

$16,000 sounds like a good price. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Why don't you register and post some pictures.

I second Bird's response. Super Deal. I have the same setup, but with a 4672 hoe, and a 60"MMM all new in May '01. It cost $22.5k, and that was a really good price, as near as I could figure. I think the MMM was about $2200 of the price, and the difference in hoes was $700, so adjusting for that, your setup new, from my dealer would run $21.5k. I'd expect to see your rig priced that way WITHOUT the hoe (maybe 500-1000 less). Looks to me like the hoe was a "freebie"

This past fall I purchase a 1998 B2400 with loader and 4672 hoe for a little under $15K. You got a fantastic deal! Keep the tractor under lock and key in case whoever sold it to you tries to take it back when they realize their mistake!

Just got a chance to play with the machine. the guy was buying a larger machine and was looking to sell. The hyd. cylinder that controls the bucket for the backhoe is leaking when the pto is on, small nick on the chromed part of the ram, but I also got the rebuild kit from kubota. Going to due the 200 hr service and start using the machine. Thanks for the feedback!

The Kubota hoe is 3ph attach (only) and you must also buy the pto pump. The Woods hoe comes as either 3ph or subframe attach, and you can get it without a pto pump (plumbing instead into the tractor hydraulics)......... There are many discussions here about the vices and virtues of 3ph attach vs. subframe and pto pump vs. tractor pump........To be more specific about Ron's observation, the subframe model of the Woods will interfere with a mmm. .....The least expensive way to go (new) is the 3ph Woods without the pto pump. After substantial research here and various dealers, that's what I would do on my 2910 if I bought a hoe new.
