my hydraulic fluid on my 2640 is always milky looking even after draining and refilling. what am I missing?

You have not removed all the water..

Did you flush with a cheap mix of diesel, alcohol, etc?

Did you take preventive steps to block out any water from getting into the hyd system?

Do you park your tractor outside? 2 common areas for moisture in hyd oil on those models is cracked shifter boots and plugged breather hole on hyd oil filler cap. It's very important to remove milky oil as the moisture causes accelerated deterioration of wet clutch & brake linings. Because some of the hyd components have no drain plugs removing water requires several fluid changes.

Thanks for the help. No tractor is never parked outside but it does have water in it. I will try to flush it out but do you have any suggestions on what the quickest and best way to flush it.

Remove the return line from the oil front oil reservoir back to the transmission. Keep adding new oil to the transmission and turning the steering wheel until clean oil flows.
