When I signed up for my 2520, I noticed that the front frame is very narrow, and would only accept 3 suitcase weights.
So, I had my dealer order the bracket so I could put some real weight on the front.

In the meantime, someone else here pointed out that the manual calls for 3 90# weights - which I now see in the manual.

I already had 5 42# weights, so I figured I would use their bracket - plus my dealer threw in 2 more so I would have the 7 that the bracket would hold.

By the way - bracket was $149........(LVB25363)

Anyway, it arrived today, so I thought I would mosey out to the barn and put it on - only 2 bolts....

Got it on properly, and commenced to putting the weights on - simple, right?

Well, no matter what I did, in any combination, I just can't get that 7th weight on.

Thought I would ask here if anyone else had this problem before I go to my dealer again - 30 miles each way to my dealer is starting to get to me with the gas prices and all.

I guess if they can't get it to work for me properly, I might have to resort to the 3 90#.

No, you can't have the weights on and use the loader at the same time.

My reason for the weights - I do some bush hogging in the woods, and having weights on instead of the loader shortens the machine up - easier to negotiate through and around the trees.

I do agree with you. no loader would be much more manuverable around trees..;)

I think you can use weights on the stock bracket with the loader, but not the extra bracket with weights. JC

I got all 7 of mine on OK, but they're a little tight and had to be worked back and forth a little, which is a good thing so they won't rattle around. Also, had kind of a hard time getting the retainer rod to slide over the last weight and through the hole on the far end, but a 2lb sledge hammer helped it along.

Could it be that there is a little extra iron sticking out the side of one of the weights that might need to be ground down? They're probably not too accurate in the molding process of those suitcase weights, I'd imagine.

Thanks for your input Runner and all.

I talked with my salesman about this.
He suggested trying to switch a couple of my old weights with a couple of his new ones.

I started out with 5 of my own, plus 2 new ones.
Today I exchanged 3 of my old ones with new to try it.

Just as you said Runner, I can get them to fit with a little persuasion now. I also like the idea of them being tight so they don't rattle.

My old weights were not rusty or anything that I could see to make them wider, but as you said Runner, the casting of them must not be exact.

All is good now -

On my 2305 I had to grind the lip on the weights just a bit to get the rod in. A little J.D. green paint and they looked like new. It's a little work, but it's nice to have things fit properly.
