This is what you use, right? Well, a similar one. I agree. A light, stronger and versatile implement instead of an heavy and cumbersome grapple. You pretty much get the best of both worlds with one of these.

I almost never take mine off my loader tractor, it just does so much MORE than a dedicated grapple, I don't even own a dedicated grapple any longer.

That particular one looks surprisingly easy to DIY. And me being a goofy sort of fellow I'm already thinking I could make different arms for it, like a small boom pole with more reach with adjustable angle, or a mount for a pole saw.. :ROFLMAO:

I feel your pain. I don't have a grapple (would love one but don't have the extra hydraulics) but I have home made fork mast with 42" forks that works for how much I need it. I load mine up with a few logs but I find they want to roll off or they aren't centered on the forks. you must be chaining your logs on huh? I've really been contemplating making a mechanical grapple that has thumbs that mount to the bottom of my fork mast and flipping my forks up-side-down.
