JD 2320
Just to let you guys know, today as I was preparing to use my 2320, got the machine warmed up and proceeded to clean off the drive with the FEL when I ran into a problem. As I was curling the bucket to warm up the hydraulics, I felt something give. I started to smell hydraulic fluid and looked under the machine and saw a nice puddle of the stuff. I shut the machine down at first to make sure I did not run it dry. When I realized how much and then started the machine back up. Not to much came out. It was weird at first because there was not leak UNTIL I used the joy stick controller to curl the bucket and that is when it leaked. After a short time of chasing down the leak, I noticed the line that goes from the joy stick down in between the right rear tire and transmisson is where it leaked. The reason it was leaking is because someone back at the plant where it was assemble did not look at the final inspection to closely, because if they did they would have seen the line was actually rubbing up against the freaking tire!! I just don't know how something like that get past the final inspection, PLUS when I first got my machine, the deck was not level properly so again with my previous experience as an aircraft mechanic, I found out why it wasn 't level properly is because of the two brackets that help line up the draft arms would again rub against the rear turf tires. Come on John Deere!!! Get someone head out of their @#!&*. I paid 18.5K for this machine and I dearly love it but these mistakes could have been caught during the manufacturing process. I hear that JD made a buch of money as for the quarter goes, it would be nice to take some of that profit and come up with a better QC inspection and better manuals. It just seems these days everyone wants to make a BUCK OR TWO but is in a rush. Should have been better at catching those items. Glade that inspector doesn't work on aircraft. He or she would not last very long in that buisness. Sorry folks, just had to vent a little. Besides that JD has a good quailty product. Glade my dealer is take care of stuff like that. They could not believe it either. Ya'll have a Great MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I think the dealer should accept some responsibilty also. His pre delivery inspection should of caught things as obvious a tire being rubbed.

Thanks, I know what I will be looking at tomorrow morning. Have you had your 2320 very long?

My 2320 is really a 2004 John Deere 4110. Which was changed to 2320.
I have 105 hrs. on it. Never had a single problem. I hope you have had
all you are gonna have. Problems I mean. Good Luck

Yeah, you 're probably right about the dealer should have caught those problems. The dealer actually had to grind off the two brackets that are attached to the MMM deck in order to get some clearance in between the raised deck and the rear tires. I took deleivery of my machine back in June of this year. I took a real beating on my trade but I am past that now. I like this machine. The wife doesn't because she can't reach the pedals so that means more seat time for me. When I had the X585 and evertime I would tell that I was going to mow the grass, she said " I get the rider! " I would end up using the weed eater to trim. Now I don't have that problem. I now have to do all the mowing and triming. Like I said eariler, its a great machine for what I want to do with it. Its a tuff little buger.

The seat should move forward for shorter people. However I understand
your seat time thing. Glad you are happy with your machine. I feel the
same about mine. Tractor safely-----live longer.

Actually no, this isnt the case at all - 4110 is using a different motor (revs less) and has two isolated hydrolic pumps, just to name a few things.

I didn't say they were identical. The 2320 replaces the 4110. The 2520
replaces the 4115. There is always some changes in different model years.
Some major-some miner. Thanks for your info.

Unfortunately, anything that comes from a factory is subject to the type of day that the workers are having.

In the majority of the cases, it seems the engineers from Green, Orange, Blue, Red etc get it mostly right and weak performances by those who are doing the assembly (both the factory and the dealers) leave a lot to be desired.

On my Kubota, about half of the hydraulic fittings were loose enough to leak ....

It is frustrating given what these things cost.

Thanks for the heads up. It is certainly frustrating when you pay so much money for something new and it is not perfect. I lost the engine in my 2320 at 25 hours. JD replaced it. Time will tell if the local mechanics got it all reassembled like new.
