2305 for hay ride use ?

I could add some weight, I have a quik hitch and was going to connect trailer to that to pull it. but I can use the tractor drawbar instead if it works better. I can load the tires too if I think I'd need it. I can try pulling approx weight and check traction on the grass. and I have the 4wd if need it. one nice thing about HST no clutch dumping/slipping to start out. I also have a 17' aluminum double axle car trailer,I thought about using it,but would have to make some mods on it for hayride use. but unloaded,it is LIGHT. will haul 4000 car but we used to store it by winching it up under foof joists with comealongs on each end. I can pick up front tongue and move it by hand anywhere I want to in lot.
Thanks for all input so far, keep it coming and if anyone has done similar and has pix,Id like to see some.
Four benefits that I see to using your car hauler trailer are
1. It probably already has brakes onboard and a breakaway system
2. It will put more weight on your tractor than a haywagon would (good for traction)
3. If you need to haul your tractor to the hayride site you can haul the tractor on the trailer and then pull the trailer behind the tractor (less wear and tear on the tractor)
4. You already have it

That is what we did. We let the Cub Scouts decorate a couple days ahead of time. Most of it could be removed in large sections, and be placed in the truck. Then the hay bales went on the front of the trailer, the tractor behind that. Sunday morning, tow to the parade site; unload tractor, rehitch trailer to tractor, and reinstall decorations.

The pictures I posted are the last time we did it. Someone lived near the parade; they got a second trailer and decorated it. I just towed 1/4 mile to the parade on a side street.

And yes, I already had a trailer; that's how I got suckered in to it :D Not really; it was my idea.

the word I got today from the town council VP- any event sponsored or run by boro or boro organization; like the parks and rec board committee - it would be covered under the boro liability insurance. 'specially since it's in boro park and boro group. so that sounds good so far.

Sounds good but are You protected or is the boro protected? You may wan't to check with your lawyer on that.

wagonguy , I would use your Car Hauler Trailer for the reasons already mentioned and I would add that the Haywagon Trailers deck will be quite alot taller than your 2305 , just something to think about ...

Today I had to park the haywagon and the big tractor (Kubota L3830) was on then other side of the field (about a 5 min walk from the house) so I hooked the haywagon (about 8x18 in size) to the BX2660 that we got a month or so ago to pull it down below (it is similar in size to your 2305).

It pulled it just fine, I was thinking of this thread, so I put it in 4wd, set the transmission to high range, brought the engine up to ~2800rpms and let her rip. Once I got it rolling good I let off off the hydro pedal and stomped on the brakes. It stopped in about 6 feet but left skidmarks the whole way from three of the four wheels. If there had been 1500# of people on board (10 150# people, not much when you think of it) I probably would have kept sliding for 15 or 20 feet. This was on flat ground next to the front hayfield.

For a test,I might try towing one of my cars and try starting/stopping to check out weight handling. big wagons are 4800lbs,small ones are 2500 empty-might throw nother 500 lb. in one to get to 3000lb or so.

It really is not that bad. For one, you never go that fast. In our parades, there were people walking/marching. You can only go as fast as them. Similar pace for me as an experiment, was about 2.5 mph on a treadmill.

Just to recap...

-Go SLOW. That's why you want a hayride anyways; take it easy and enjoy the ride, scenery and sounds
-allow room. Leave plenty of room between you and the cars, spectators, ect.
- Review rules before you start. Everyone must be seated at all times ect

FWIW, we did do a run up my little deadend street with kids, haybales ect just like we would be in the parade. So I knew what it felt like towing.

Have fun, but be cautious. We always had a blast in the Christmas parades!

The BX don't have Brakes per say.
