...My Remington 513s ...

I had to look that one up. Pretty gun.

I have my Remington 580 that I got when I was 14 or so. It is a satisfying little gun to shoot. I'll never give it up. :)

A few weeks ago I took my daughter out to shoot our .22s. I ran two 50 round magazines through the 10/22 in stupid fast rapid succession to make the pop can pile jump around. I used thunder t*rds because we had them and they were cheap.... and not one of them failed. Rifle was pretty dirty, but none of them failed to load or fire.... and the pop cans all died.

Drop a bore snake thru the chamber and barrel and hit the bolt face with an old toothbrush and you are good to go for another brick. You can do this in the field without disassembly in just a few seconds. It takes thousands of rounds before the trigger assembly gets gummed up with unburned powder. But a bore snake and a toothbrush in your range bag can keep you going for hundreds of rounds. You can put just a little CLP or some other cleaner on the brush area of the bore snake.

Hoppe's BoreSnake Bore Cleaner Rifle

After a 1000 rounds or so, I put a single drop of CLP on the recoil spring guide. But less is more with lube on .22's . Keep lube use sparingly.

Yeah, my Wife's 10/22 doesn't seem to have any issues with anything we've fed it either. Hardy little guns.

It was my Dad's. It is a full size rifle. Same size and weight as my deer rifles. It has a thick barrel. It is clip fed. Heavy to tote around squirrel hunting but super accurate especially with standard velocity target rounds. But the real beauty is the trigger. As far as I know it was never modified and it is very crisp and light. I also have a Remington 510 or 512 bolt action. It is smaller, narrower barrel and all that and sadly the trigger is heavy and dull. Makes accuracy difficult. There are no modifications or replacements to remedy the issue. Someone used to sell a replacement spring (for $20!!) but it was hard to install and did not help one bit. Just a design flaw I guess. I would not even want to use it as a beginner rifle because it would be hard to teach someone to squeeze the trigger.

I bet a good gunsmith that is used to working on triggers could remedy the trigger situation. I know of one locally, and he would be where I would take the rifle if it were mine. Good pricing on labor too.

I've wondered about that. Locally gunsmith labor prices are high. About $100 to adjust trigger pull on one of my Remington 700s (without an adjustable trigger). This Remington .22 is probably not worth spending $100 on. The trigger, as I remember it, is very simple. If there was a DIY video or something I would try it myself if there is actually a way to do it.

That's seems a bit steep... not knowing though the details of your specific need. My local Gunsmith seems to be more than willing to help at very low compensation... but I do direct my and others gun and accessory business his way.

Don't know if they make them your gun but I just installed a MCARBO trigger kit ($39.00) in both of my Remington 597 auto's and it is smooth as silk with 2lb pull. I also installed a Volquartsen extractor and target hammer. I did both the 22LR and 22 MAG. They will shoot anything I put through them.

I just installed a Nikon 3x9x40 Prostaff rimfire BDC on the 22LR
A Nikon 4x12x40 Prostaff rimfire BDC on my 22MAG
and a Nikon 4x16x42 Monarch BDC of my 22-250

I have Nikon's "spot on" app, love the BDC recticle.

16x font sound enough on a 22-250 for shooting groundhog or other small varmint
