Great advice sir! Will do as prescribed and report back health. Makes me want to come home even more now. :D

These 'road' trips while I wouldn't trade them for a desk job (been dare done dat)... do take a toll.

Yeah, all of the polishing won't hurt a thing, and might fix your problems. Might not too, but won't hurt.

The Ruger MK series don't seem to like the Thunder duds as they are dirty ammo and jams up the feed ramp. James might have the answer with polishing up the feed ramp but I still don't like that ammo after a 100 rounds. Very dirty.

Almost all of them work just fine in my 50 year old bolt action.:)

Pretty much my experience too.

Plated bullets are cleaner. Thunderbolts and wildcats are indeed dirtier ammo than federal bulk and winchester bulk as those are plated. Bolt actions dont much care though.

I think I always just had an affinity for the Winchester Wildcats because they used to be made a few miles up the road from me at the old Olin Brass facility in Wood River, IL. They were cheap, and they always worked. When they started to get scarce, I started looking for replacements. Thunderbolts definitely did not cut it for me. I hate spending a boatload of money on plinking ammo just to push cans around or punch holes in paper plates. There is a lot of really good .22LR ammo out there, and it's priced accordingly. I don't mind the cheap stuff for what I do - I just mostly shoot for fun these days.

Just saw 3 cubes of 325 Federal at Wal-Mart in Palatka FL this weekend. I bought 6 or 8 boxes of 50 at Gander Mountain in St. Augustine 3 weeks ago, at around $0.07/rnd, and they had plenty more.

With me, I don't think it is a dirty issue with my brand new gun. I think it has more to do with pistol vs. rifle... at least I hope so. Seems from what I am hearing is that rifles are far more forgiving than pistols when it comes to 22LR.

Agreed. Cheap dirty ammo has caused problems with my Ruger 22 auto pistol and even worse with my old H&R breaktop revolver.

Same with swing outs. The unburnt powder accumulates and stops the crane from locking tight. A real PITA!

My auto 22 rifles and pistols seem to like Remington Golden bullets and I buy them by the bucket at Walmart, they seem to me loaded with them most of the time now, they still limit you to three buckets per person but that's fine, 4200 rounds once in a while is good with me. I wont buy Winchester ever, there dirty as it gets.
