Walked into Academy Friday and had 1 box of Remington copper 525 for 27. Felt I won the lottery...

I find myself buying any bulk pack I can when in stock.. 50 rd boxed do nothing for me. Must be >300rds and i'm not hoarding since my boys and I shoot several hundred per weekend.

Forget getting em under $0.05 per round... Gas used to be under a $1 a gal and you could get coke for $0.25..

I think that availability has improved considerably, likely due to the overall increase in price. Like many others, I can recall paying $8 for a 500 round brick, but that was many years ago. I think, and I'm going from memory here, that the "pre-shortage" price was getting to be about $18 to $20" for about 500 rounds either in a brick or bulk pack, so I think that 4 cents/per round was the going rate.

During the height of the panic, the prices, when available, looked like they were getting between $50 and $75, or at least that's what they were priced at, so that's 10 to 15 cents per round.

It looks like now the new normal is between about 6 cents on the low end and 10 cents on the high end. I've noticed that during my last several trips to Gander Mountain, they had .22 ammo available. Usually the winchester or Remington 100 round packs, between $8 and $10. They have been available online as well, and Gander Mountain offers free shipping for orders over $25. The last time I was at Gander Mountain, I got a couple of the 325 round bulk packs for $22 each, so that was a little bit under 7 cents around.

Our local wal-mart can have some available occasionallyl, but it is still extremely rare.

Good luck and take care.

There was only a brief period here when 22 was not on the shelf at our local gun store. However, they always had it tucked away out back for their regular customers who had bought guns from them. Walmart is always a freak show and I don't bother spending the time driving there, hoping they have it, trying to save .50 . I would rather spend a little more at a local mom and pop. .02

Seems to be plenty around here, but each purchase is limited to two bricks. Course, nothing to prevent you from buying, walking out, and walking in to buy two more. Prices are high, but then all prices seem high for everything.

Got lucky at a local Walmart this afternoon. The ammo display case is behind the counter and difficult to see what's in stock, but the lady clerk was there and I asked if she had any in the cabinet. She said, "nope, just sold the last box out of the cabinet about an hour ago". But she went on and said, "Let me check the stock under the counter, I might have one there". And indeed she did, a 333 round box of Winchester hollow points for about $18 after tax. Guess it sometimes pays to ask even if you don't see any on display.
She said she hasn't seen much improvement in the quantity of 22LR coming into the store.

Kinda depends on where you live. My local Wally doesn't screw around with small boxes, they buy the Remington Bucket of Bullets, 1400 rounds each bucket. You can almost any day buy 3 buckets. They seem to run around $45 to $50 a bucket if I remember right.

I don't get out much....prefer to stay home when possible....and get to Walmart once every month or two. I try to ask the guy at the gun counter whenever I'm there about .22 and he just laughs. I try to only buy CCI Mini-Mags and haven't seen any in years.
