How many of them drive a 3rd gen Camaro?

Its funny you post a pic of that Camaro. There was one at the race track except it was black. A little rough around the edges but it looked like it should be fast. It wasn't fast though, must have been bone stock under the hood.

My android app doesn't allow zooming pictures. Just now read the caption. Funny but true and does fit my described demographics.

I will admit that if I were to go to the track, I would want a big V8 just for the sound, feel, and cool factor. In a road vehicle I'll choose a quiet power plant so I can enjoy my passengers or quality music.

I saw a Datsun pickup at the track one time. It had skinnies on the front, huge slicks on the rear, a cage, and wheelie bars. Just looking at it, it looked like it would run a 9.50. He pulled up to do a burn out and had a heck of a time getting the tires to turn. It ran a 15 something.

The android app sucks. You were lucky that it even loaded the picture. I guess the picture did not load in full size though. I used to use the "open browser" to look at pictures but that does not work anymore.

V8's are quiet.

I used to think the same thing till I got our BMW 335i. Bone stock the 3.0L 6 would smoke most anything.

I do frequent the F150 forums because I own one, you too must have a vested interest. I have only seen a couple post on this subject. One I know was a motor with a tuner so we know the demographic profile of that driver. The other was questioned and pictures were never provided. One could google search any engine from any manufacturer and find similar failures. Sure, it would be great if the block were CGI but is is definitely not what I would call a mistake.

Die hard V8, no replacement for displacement, technology challenged demographic types do have a bone to pick with these small engines which have proven to be very successful. It shouldn't be embarrassing to be outperformed by smaller displacement engines in today's world but we have to wait for these gear heads to put down the beer, shave the mullet, turn off the heavy metal and educate themselves. It all started when the ricer community showed up at the drag strips with their modded out imports beating the good ole american muscle.
I was of the bigger is better thought process myself for many years. After dumping countless dollars into big inch chevy's, a friend and myself decided to experiment. We had his Chevelle (71) running 11.75 with a 468. After many years of drag racing, the big motor was getting tired. He had the 307 that came in the car and a 283 sitting in his shop. Since we do this for fun, we decided to build the 307 to see if we could get the same times as with the 468. Though challenging, we are real close. Best time so far 12.18. .060 over, solid lift cam, great set of heads, etc (do not want to give away all the secrets). I also have a 70 Chevelle with a milder .060 327 with a hydraulic cam. It runs 13.23 on stock suspension. We are in the process of building the 283 for my car to see if we can break into the 12s. Again, a challenge but all in good fun. And for a lot cheaper than the big blocks. We may through a turbo on the 283, but I am not real confident with the bottom end under any large amount of boost (over 6 psi).

Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed or got their Wheaties soggy.

Today I am looking forward to cooler temps.

Sounds like some fun challeges especially without boost. Don't take this the wrong way but my comical statements about displace wouldn't include your lineup because you are still starting with old school foundations. I was speaking along the lines of the new direct injection, variable valve timing, turbos, etc which have changed the displacement rules greatly. Glad you are seeing good results and having fun.
