It looks like the new one will do decent on gas. Nit picking ... but they could have gotten the engine size right on the Toyota...

What is the right engine size?

The graph was from Truck Trend Magazine.

They should be popping up at dealers any day now. We have around 15,000 pre-orders to fill on each. The #'s came in higher than expected on sold units. Working 12 hours shifts to meet the demand. This is good news. Drove a crew 4x4. Ride quality is good. Room is Amazing. Handling is firm. Very little body roll. Power is there. Was very pleased. I ALMOST felt like I was in a half ton.

We have a GMC extended cab 4x4 in dark green parked at the plant entrance. Has tan leather interior. Great looking combo IMO. The last two have been red and black. This is the first time I've seen one finished in this color. image-4025421104.jpg

That looks like the metallic green that was stock colour on my 1979 Chev Shortbox Pickup.......I loved that colour !

Sort of related, I have a 2011 Toyota Highlander with a V6. MPG on the dash always says it gets 1 MPG more than it actually does. I've kept meticulous records for the past 50,000 miles proving it.

They don't call them "dream meters" without reason

I saw one at the auto show earlier this year, good looking trucks and just the size I want. MPG rating is good too, about the same as the 1/2 ton Dodge. What I don't like is how low the front is and how the shocks hang down under the axles. I'm almost positive I'd never get it over the ditches to my field, my old Tundra barely clears them. Also manual transmission is unavailable in the V6 4x4. There'll be a new Tacoma and probably Frontier as well next year. Nice that we're finally getting some competitive mid-size trucks again.

The Z-71 package gets a different lower front facia for better approach and clearance. A High Rider (ZR-2) package is in the works for off-roaders also. Nothing concrete yet. But can see it happening for 16. Here's the Z-71. image-2841115792.jpg

Haven't seen any yet but keeping an eye out!

Thanks Topkicker it's hard to see on your Z71 picture but the black lower air dam is what I'm referring to, I'd have to remove it for sure. Perhaps the future High Rider version will be the answer? I know a lot of Tacomas get used for wheeling over bigger trucks like a F150 or Tundra simple because they fit better on forest roads and have great great ground clearance and angles. Perhaps the High Rider will compete with Tacoma TRD's, just hope GM sources a nice WR heavy duty manual transmission for it.

We are shipping them daily. The majority is for customer pre-orders. The most popular pre-order is a Crew Cab 4x4 short bed w the V-6. A close 2nd is the same truck w the long bed. Not sure on most popular color or package (Z-71, All-Terrain, SLT, LT, etc..).

I see it! I didn't think they had that piece. Here's a pic w/o it. I'm going to final line tomorrow. I will see if they are using that clearance killer on the Z-71.

That one looks like a little better clearance. Actually a very nice looking truck.

Sorry so late posting. Been VERY busy this past week. Trucks are being shipped daily. The Z-71 does have the lower black air dam. It's there for " better aerodynamics ". It's a clearance killer IMO. I would remove it if it were me. Here is some new pics.

The mileage still is not there on these small trucks. It looks like they get 2MPG more than a full size.

I just took a look at both the Chevy and GMC configurators, blue not offered as an exterior color?
