Hello everyone;
Last week I bought a 2005 New Holland TC33DA, I noticed that the temp and fuel gauges work and all the lights and indications on the instrument panel works fine, the tachometer at the start goes all the way up and drops to zero and does not work and hour meter does not work, it shows 498 hrs. The seller let me know it was the alternator and does not want to spend any money in it.
I bought it and took the alternator to the shop; I was told it is good, checked the battery it is fully charged. My friend has the same make and model so I test the instrument panel on his tractor, it worked fine, and I then switched his tractors alternator to my tractor still the same and no changes. All the fuses are good. I have grounded the fire wall to the chassis, then I noticed that the owner has a red wire jumped from small solenoid wire to the white wire of the ignition switch, this tractor starts in both natural`s and all different HST shifts and everything works except tachometer and hour meter. When I disconnect this wire noting happens not even a click at the starter.
I have read many posts on the different forums that it may be a neutral switch or the safety switch, I have checked the seat switch by switching it with another one but it is fine.
I have tried to find the other ones but just fond the pto , not the range selector, the range selector shaft goes directly to the transmission and I do not see any switches.
Any photos of this switch locations or any advice would be greatly appreciated.
