Hi All,

I have been enjoying my 2004 Kioti DK45S for a number of years now. It only has about 350 hours on it, but has developed an issue I want to get feedback on how to remedy. To me it feels like the clutch has started to not disengage fully. For example, when I would be in High 3 or 4 gear and go up a semi steep grade, the trackor would bog down, lose RPM and the engine would eventually stall if I didn't shift down to a lower gear. Now, when I do that same scenario, the tractor slows down up the grade, but the engine doesn't lose RPM's. Also, it just seems to be going slower in the same gear than before when pulling or going up grade. So it seems like the the clutch is semi depressed. Does this sound like a simple clutch cable adjustment?

Thanks for the help before I make any adjustments!

Thanks!
Ron

If you are lucky it might be an adjustment. It could be rust on the clutch shaft restricting good clutch engagement.

Hi Art,

Thanks for the reply. I have to admit that I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to this. Would I shorten or lengthen the cable to try and correct via the adjustment? Also, is rust on the clutch shaft a bad thing..meaning $$$$ to repair?

Thanks!
Ron

Check the freeplay of your clutch by pushing down on the pedal, You should have a 1"- 1 1/2" of freeplay before you feel resistance from the clutch. Anymore or less the clutch needs adjustment.
