After plowing all day yesterday with a half fogged up windshield I went to Walmart and bought a $20 12V defroster and mounted it to my windshield along with Rainex Interior Defogger WOWWWW what a difference I plowed for 3 hours today and the combo worked great, Just wanted to pass it along to you guys with home built cabs.

I do have the provisions to draw in outside air to prevent the fogging however I did not get to complete that part of the build yet.

I am also looking into a rear defroster with heat grids, I posted that in a seperate post.

I have that exact model in my Curtis cab on my JD 4210. I need to relocate up higher so I can point onto the windshield. Right now it's down low and I use it primarily has a heater. It works quite well and will keep the cab nice and toasty.

Thanks for posting that Mike. I've had trouble with my rear window fogging up and that should work well to keep it clear.

Hey Mike,

What kind of freak have I become when I read your post and wish we had snow to plow here! Be careful out threre and enjoy the snow as much as possible! (easy to say for me I realize).

Thanks for the pic's.

I have a friend who swears by RAINEX but I still haven't tried it. Any other believers out there ?

I use Rainex on all my vehicles. As a matter of fact I just did my truck windows today. I never thought about doing the inside of the tractor cab or the outside for that matter.

I've been using two of these small heaters in my cab mounted up high one on each side 8 inches back from the windshield. Either can be directed toward the window or myself, they keep the windows clear and warm up the cab well.

Very impressed with your cab Mike :cool:I had to look twice thought it was a factory cab at first glance. Is that something you did on your own?

Rainex has a special product for inside application. They advise not to use "regular" Rainex on the inside.

I have a couple of those that I use in my boat on the cool humid mornings in late summer when the inside of the windshield fogs up. They do help.
