Built a 3 point 2"reciever hitch for 2 of my friends and myself. Got the idea from members on the TBN. Thanks to all who post thier ideas and include the pics. A pic is worth a thousand words. In the pic I have it attached to my quick hitch. (if you dont have a quick hitch, you dont know what your missing)

JBCat,

Great craftsmanship! I'd love to be able to do that!

What are those receivers typically used for and why wouldn't one just screw a ball onto that rectangular steel bar below the receiver?

Buck, I made one a few months ago, and boy is it ever great. It is so much easier to just back up the tractor and raise the 3pt. under the hitch and move the trailer. I don't have to get off of the tractor. Plus my 2 5/16" ball will not fit on my drawbar that is on my tractor. The ball needs a 1" hole and the drawbar is 3/4"

Von,

Thanks for explaining the technical value of these things. Please pardon my ignorance, but what do you haul?

Thanks,

Buck

Buck, I have a 16' flatbed trailer that I use to get the tractor down to the Antique shop. (cut the grass on the back 3 acres there this morning) Also use the trailer for the few times my cars seem to die, as well as hauling firewood and mulch. Here is a photo of the trailer with the sides on, that I made for it.

Buck,

Search for "receiver" . You would be amazed. I have one on the front of my tractor, and one on the back. Per another post I got a vise to put on one too. The rack in this photo almost never comes off my tractor. It is super handy and just slips into the front receiver.

Von,

Thanks for the quick answer. That explains it. Now I'm upset that I asked. It would be nice to haul around mulch and dirt in a trailer and spread it without going back and forth using the FEL!

I would like to rent that from you next time I do a job for a friend. Currently I pay $50 for a similar rig rented from Factory DIrect Trailers in Ontario, NY. Does that interest you and does the trailer have brakes?

Buck, Yea maybe we can do a swap, I sure could use a box blade for a day or two. And yes the trailer has electric brakes on the front axle. Give me a call at the shop and we can set something up. the # is 924-4260. I'm there 11:00am to 5:00pm

Von,

I don't need the trailer immediately, but definitely will in the longer term.

You are welcome to borrow my scraper now, though. The dry soil is ideal for scraping. I wouldn't wait much longer, if I were you.

We could transport it in my pickup or your trailer.

Buck
