This is odd, wondering if any of you have experienced this. With the cruise control on, when I put my blinker on to change lanes, the cruise control turns off. Any ideas?

Been a while since I worked on one. I seem to remember a tsb or a recall on the cruise. A short I think. Sounds like what you are experiencing anyway. Have you looked on any f150 boards? Good luck!

I recall that tab. I had that addressed, the short caused some fires if I recall.

Sounds like a bad ground (possibly in the taillight causing power to backfeed into the brake light circuit and making the cruise thing that you just hit the brakes).

Check the bulb on your 3rd brake light on back of the cab.

My guess is you have a short between your brake lights and your turn signal lights. My first thought is the trailer plug.

As you know when you apply brakes your cruise control disengages. This short is making this happen.

Just did. Look at what I found. I took the bulbs out and will see if it helps. Both bed light sockets are melted. Not sure why.

Yes and no. We traded 2 vehicles in for the Tundra, meaning the F150 is being driven more. It has a new engine but needs a few more items such as a dash and paint. Not a bad truck, just old (1997). I will be buying a newer vehicle with cash in the next yeat. For now, its the Ford.

The bulb removal did the trick. Cruise working fine now. Could these issues be a bad ground?

i'm with the others.. somewhere something was leaking to / affecting the brake circuit, and thus tripping the cruise...

ever see turn signals make a brake controller pulse.. etc..

I've read where the 3rd brake light can also cause issues with the button on the shift lever that turns off overdrive and make that light flash.

Funny you say that. It was doing this exact thing about a month or so ago.

is that a gem wireing issue? I know when i had a water leak from a top cab light.. water ran down driver side pillar and got GEM module wet.. and i had that OD light blinking on my 99 350.

removed and resealed all my cab lights and it took care of the issue. AFTER i got a new GEM module :)

No cab lights, but it could be a gem issue. The truck does have a few electrical gremlins.

any time i see weird electrical problems involving gauges, dash lamps, dome lamps, map lights and door lamps / door open sensor.. I think GEMM.. it controlls ALL that.

I thought my truck was posessed. it's door locks were auto locking and unlocking. gauges bouncing all over.. etc...
