1964 ford 2000 with no reverse

I just aquired a f 2000, all of the 4 forward gears work as they should except reverse. Is this a common problem????.

I don't know. Sure you looked in the right place? R isn't where it is on the later tractors.....down and a little right of center. It's up and a little left of center. If you go over to the left too far you will hit first. No biggie to pop the tranny cover and have a look see. Shifting fork may be worn but I'd bet you just didn't hit the sweet spot.

I have a 1957 ford 851 and on prety much all the 800 series tractors the R is the weak link.
