I can't get the choke to work after rebuilding the carb. The flapper won't flap. I put it back together every way possible and it won't move. What am doing wrong?

G'day don't know how you could get it wrong you pull the choke knob and the butterfly shuts!! Don't mean to sound rude but I cant think of any way you could go wrong can you put up a pic of your carb and linkages we might be able to see the problem.

I can't install the butterfly on the wrong side of the shaft because the screws are on the outside side of the throat. Can't install shaft on wrong side because its only open on one side.

I posted a couple pictures. The choke shaft will not move when installed like the pictures or with the butterfly other other way with the 10 at the top. The 01 in at the bottom in the picture. It won't move in either direction.

G'day I have to agree with soundguy I think, I reckon the butterfly screws onto the other side of the shaft will be a PITA to put the screws in but I think he is right. I thought I might have had a carb here I could look at but can't find one.

I'm thinking you need to remove the choke disc, let the choke shaft rotate ahead a bit, getting past center, then reattach the disc. Aren't the choke disc's elongated a tad, so as to pretty much close the hole at a slight angle..??

Looking at generic pics of a TO20's carbs, the tang on the choke shaft is rotated forward a good bit. And being the return spring on yours has it at full choke, I'm guessing the disc is elongated enough to prevent it going on O.C.

Granted, you may have to release the return spring, or hold the tang with your finger, until you get the disc reattached, but thinking that is the problem.
