Tractor
1951 ferguson
I was gone on vacation and came back to find that this tractor had been used by a family member and parked back in the barn and I haven't been able to start it since. I'm no real mechanic - just an older guy who grew up and worked on the farm where this tractor has been working since 1959 or so. I've managed to keep it running and working for the last 25 years but now I'm stumped. It's the original six volt, battery is good, just bought a new 6 volt coil - power goes from distributor to coil and pulses when it turns over. Distributor, points, etc are good, po
wer is going where it should but no spark.
Test lighted all wiring and all apppears fine.
Carb is fine. Turns over fine.
Switched out coils- still no spark.

I'm open to suggestions.

thanks in advance

Check under the distributor cap on the lugs for a carbon type build up caused by ionization. Seems I have it happen more with ones with aluminim lugs, than the old brass ones.

It can be scraped of with a knife blade. I've been doing this one my one Super C for almost 20 years, and still using the same cap.

Check for a buildup on the rotor button also.

G'day also check coil wire (High tension) by holding it near a ground on the block while cranking and maybe swap with another to check.
