I’ve tried everything I know. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser. Bought a new ignition coil and rebuilt the carburetor. Removed and cleaned the fuel sediment bowl. Verified plugs are sparking and fuel is going to the carburetor. I suppose there’s a chance I could have put the distributor in 180 degrees out, but I doubt it. Please help.

How's your compression ?

I haven’t checked that. What number am I looking for?

Not sure but look it up and see how to check the compression for your engine, usually just pull the plugs, a gauge in the spark plug hole, turn it over.

You will need compression gauge, and a reading in all of the cylinders, record them, squirt in some oil and check it again, record the numbers.

If the numbers go up, then it could be rings, if the compression stays the same, then it could be valves or a head gasket.

If lower then it should be then you might have a stuck valve(s), so many things, check it first, then make a decision on the next move.

Without compression there is no Big Bang or at least not what you need.

Compression should be 90 psi. Does it sound like it wants to kick over at all?
