1820D Wheel Locked

The left rear wheel on my 1820D has locked. I noticed that the differential lock lever does not spring back to the up position. Could this cause the wheel to lock. If so how do you fix it? I also had a problem with the brake locking up on that side. I assume that the brakes are wet as I dont have drums. I dont know the first thing about wet brakes.

I'm not familiar with the YM1820, but I believe all Yanmars have brake drums, and it's probably locked up.

I'm not familiar with that model either, but no, some have wet brakes. e.g. I believe the 2210 has wet brakes.

redbud, have you checked if some linkage for the diff lock has broken or come apart ? It could be a hanging or seized brake too... Just my guess.

The 1820d has wet brakes. That does not seem to be the problem. Must be in the diff lock.

I still bet on the brake being locked. But try jacking up rear of the tractor and rocking one wheel then the other and see if the diff lock leaver releases. Ig you still need to access the dill lock you will have to remove the fendres the seat supports and the hydraulic control assembly to gain access to the diff.

Well I finally got in to the rear end of my tractor it wasn't pretty. A piece of the fork on the end of the diff lock lever had broken off. This in turn broke the gear that engages the lock. Can I run the tractor without these parts?

I put it back together without the gear. When I put it in gear nothing happened , no movement . When I engaged the front wheels the tractor will move in all three speeds. It must have messed something up between the transmission and rear axel.

Have you made any progress on the 1820d diff problem. I have a 2020d and in case something like this happens to me I would like to know the remedy. The parts book ig got from Hoye has good diagrams or all parts or the tractor in case you need one.
