I own a 1630 e john deere tractor, unsure of year but probably somewhere in the 70's. I havent been able to find much if anything at all on the internet about this tractor and was wondering if anyone here may have any info on this tractor. All I can tell you is that it was built in I believe europe or germany. If needed I can get some picture if they will help and also if someone can tell me where I may find a serial number of some sorts that would be great.

Also it has a 3 cyl diesel and 4 speed trans with hi, low and reverse. 3 point with pto.

Any help would be great on this or some help in looking in the right direction.

Edit: Here is a picture and more can be found at http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c339/mach158/JD 1630 E/

I am not sure where you are from, but the 1630 is not a model intended for sale in US. It is very similar to US model 2240. I think you will find most parts are the same. The cab is different and the front headlights were not used in US. The serial number should be on the right side of the transmission case. As you are sitting in the seat, it should be above the right footrest and behind your right leg. Actually from your pictures, the serial number may be covered by sheet metal covering the hump in the cab floor. I also notice that the power steering system is different from american models. The 2240 is a very good reliable tractor and I am sure the 1630 will give you many years of service as well.

Well I live in Iowa and haveheard that before about not intended for US but no idea how it got here. It was bought at an auction and no one had anyreal info onit at the time.

Thanks for the info as well.

Now does anyone haveany idea where I may be able to find a loader for this tractor? I know it will need a different setup then the usual but Iwould think something has tobe out there.

Well, I think the same loader that fits the 2240 would fit, but with the cab, the mounting frames maight have to be modified. I tried to look at your pictures again, but they aren't there anymore. There were a few different JD models that fit. A 143, 145, 146, 175 or a 48 could all fit with the proper mounting frames. Unfortunately, none of those models are still made today, but I am sure used ones could be found. Also there are numerous aftermarket manufacturers that make loaders. Woods, Kelly, Landpride and Farmhand to name a few.
