Air conditioners are NOT rocket science. Perhaps the sales and service organization you are "locked into" does not have a service tech that truly understands the systems.
I would suggest that you speak with the service department head, and try to develop a plan to confirm that your AC system is fully "up to snuff".
Icing is usually a result of low "freon" . A leak, or an under fill. You might agree to use an outside specialist. It might cost a couple of hundred bucks, but how would you feel if all was right?
