I've got a 1040 loader and the dealer put a "shim" in my controller that increased the pressure some and improved performance. It wasn't much trouble and took about five minutes.

Yes, your dealer could turn the pressure up, but I don't think that they will (that is above spec.). I don't know how much experience you have, but the way you use a loader has a lot to do with how it works. I have a MF 1440 with the same loader. It has real good power. Another thing to think about, is that your dealer said that it was "fine". From my experience, that might mean that it isn't really far off, but might not be where it really should be. I would get a gage and hook it up to see for myself what the pressure is set at.

Jerry,
I was a little disatisfied with the bucket curl power on mine shortly after I got it and they checked the pressure. It was probably in the acceptable range, but not max for specs. After they worked on it it was at the specified maximum, but I don't remember now just what it was. Just a little bit more pressure but it made a noticeable difference in performance.

Bruce- I'm just curious, what's it doing (or not doing) for you to consider it weak?

That is exactly what I was trying to get at. It might be in range and the dealer might not want to change it, but it would give better performance on the high side.

Thanks for all the help . The trouble i am having some times it will pick up a bucket full of what ever i happen to be working with at the time and then it wont pick up but half the amount.. Maybe its just me ... I have been working around tractors all my life this is the first time this has happend.... Its the 3 rd. massey ferguson i have owned, but its the first massey loader... the other two were bushhog brand loaders.. Is this shim something i can do myself? Thank you for all your time B.Neal /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif [image]confused[/image]

It's a adjustment screw under your right floor board. It is behind a hydraulic manifold. It's not easy to get at. I would check the pressure myself first.

If you have remotes you can plug a gage into them. If you don't, there is a 1/8" pipe plug on the pressure pipe where it comes off of the pump. A hose with gage can be made up to work there.
