1050 prices

Looked at a 1986 JD 1050, add-on PS kit, repainted, gear transmission, good to fair metal, 1250 hours asking $8500. This is comparable with internet pricing I've seen but is this a good price? Does anyone have experience with this model? Known problems? etc, etc.

Also does anyone know of a good site to help research JD models (production years, available features, and so on)?

I bought a '86 1050 for $5500, 5900 hours. So far, an excellent tractor. We use it 6 days a week mowing unsold subdivision lots. We run a 6' rotary mower on the rear, and for our application, works well. I'd buy another any day.
