    Lombard Log Hauler

We are working on getting our steam traction engine back home where she belongs. She was used in the timbering, lumber and shingle industry here in Shingletown from 1905 to about 1938, when she was parked as an exhibit on the side of the road. She's been overhauled and then her boiler went bad...

Okay, I've been doing some thinking (painful) and trying to do this project as inexpensively as I can. I happen to have sever 10' lengths of Superstrut that was originally intended for a ground mount solar add on on my ranch, which has since been sold. I'm going to use this for the A-pillars...

So what would you have done different with your new shop?

Agreed. It does take a bit more wire (often) and a little more planning, but that breaker is not the way to do it. If you want a single switch for all lights just put one of these in the circuit right next to the breaker box, if that's convenient and use it to do all the lights in the place.

    Tooth bar

I think the best way is to come up against the willow, engage it with the toothbar but don't push too hard, and roll the bucket back while creeping forward. That is what I do with the manzanita that I'm trying to get out and it is a bit tougher than a little willow. I suppose, if you put the...

I saw this great little idea when looking for something else on YouTube and said, "Hey, what a great way to get rid of a wire basket I have laying around." Black as standard loader attachment paint?

Black goes with everything - While I'm cheap and would certainly use a Kubota OEM bucket if I could find one at a really good price, and I wouldn't paint it, it would sure look odd with my blue tractor. Everyone would think I had a Mercum.

Flat face hydraulic connectors are better?

Yes, I don't know why it's true, but it is. I can't say it is a "feature" of FF couplers because I have had occasional residual pressure in ag style as well but the FF are certainly very consistent in this regard. As I said, relieving the pressure in the ag style is very easy, a tap on the end...

Flat face hydraulic connectors are better?

I'm probably going to install one of these to relieve pressure on the line so I don't have to always crack the line open - not very good for that connection really. These are good to 5000+ PSI and are only $40 at Surplus Center.

Difficulty reconnecting hydraulic lines on backhoe on MT125 Tractor.

For future reference, the first photo is of flat face connectors and the second is for Ag style. The reason I asked is that using a piece of board one can tap the end of a male AG style connector and release a small bit of built up pressure in the system that may have developed from...

Have you considered putting a duckboard floor in the bottom of the pit to bring it up to a better height for working under a vehicle? Looking For A Pole Saw

You may not like my suggestion but I would suggest a manual pole saw for these reasons: 1. Manual pole pruners are lightweight, easy to handle, and will not leave you with a sore back. 2. PTO Capstan Winch (from scratch)

You are right. Actually two snatch blocks would do that job. But changing direction is important when felling a tree, which is what I often do, as you don't want your tractor pulling directly in line with where your tree will fall, unless your line is much longer than the tree is tall.
