Well, it's official: as of this morning, all snow --all piles-- are now gone. Removed blower, put on FEL to move a large branch that fell down next to my BH last winter, moved my pile of rocks to rebuild my summer cooking fireplace, then "aerated" parts of the lawn with my spiked chains. Grass...

Just heard back from my nearest MF dealer (within 2 days!). Hube, you're right, the spindle assembly is NOT available as a single part. Bearings/seals kits (2) for both outer spindles comes to about $210 plus shipping; they say it can be drop-shipped directly to me. Looks like a winter project...

My MMM has LOTS of hours on it, and I know I've hit rocks with it on a number of occasions. This spindles are pretty loud -- quiet down quite a bit after greasing, but it doesn't take long for them to get loud again, hence the suspect bearings. We'll see, I'll probably try to take it apart this...

Resurrecting an old thread: I'm about to begin the same process -- has anybody replaced their 2325 MMM spindle bearings yet? (Any tips?)

I've got the same older deck -- I remover the rear wheels/axles and put in a solid axle with small wheels so I can stand it up (on edge) for winter storage. I agree those spring-type clips are awkward to remove -- I did lose one once, don't know how it got knocked off, but I found it...

The engine will overheat before it can take water from the overflow back into the system, so -- of course, after it's totally cooled down-- remove the radiator cap and fill the radiator to the top first. Then adjust coolant level in the overflow tank.

I just went through mine last fall. OEM spec is for an 80cm long piece of 7mm x 12mm (OD) hose. I replaced with a section of NAPA 1/4" fuel line. It may not be necessary to remove the floor pan to get at the end of the hose where it connects to the electric fuel pump, but it sure does make it...

One of the things I discovered with the first installation back in 2014: even though I'm dealing with snow, in cold temps, the friction developed in the impeller area actually caused the UMWPE to heat up -- and expand, causing "bubbles" here & there which the impeller blades then began to hit...

Those plugs are pretty easy to put on cross-threaded, which I suspect more often than not occurs during assembly. My axle plug was/is OK, but my main hydraulic fill plug in the back was a b^%^ch to get off. Replaced it years ago. Keep in mind those plugs are vented....

And this AM it looks like the LRB will get some exercise, Dave -- the overnight 1" or less of "insignificant snow flurries" are now at 2" and still coming down....

What oldnslo said. Axle requires draining/re-filling separately, but steering is part of the main hydraulic system. There are two axle drains, at the bottom on the rear, but only one fill plug on the top of the left side. FILL PLUG DRAIN PLUG

Hey MoMower -- what's the story on that 3PH aerator?

I do the same with mine -- keep it raised, and go through the "path" under my power line. Ferns, small trees, sticks... cleans 'em all right out.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Yes, the learning curve is a bit steep with these tractors, but you got that lesson the hard way!

I agree with Dave -- it sounds as though the connections are not correct or are incomplete. When you remove the backhoe, you end up disconnecting THREE hoses, but TWO of those hoses need to be connected to each other after the backhoe is removed. The third hose just hangs there unconnected...

The one you have circled in red --my finger's on it in the second pic-- is the one that goes all the way back, connecting to another line to become the return circuit when the backhoe's off. On my 2310, it has both a white and a blue zip-tie marker on it. When the BH's on, those two lines...

You might try looking in motorcycle supply houses -- I know they make various gel-type cushions....

FWIW, I'd say my 2310 starts precisely as described above by JWR. (3-cyl/1100cc IDI non-turbo diesel.) After sitting all night: No GP, quite a few cranks necessary, if it starts at all within a reasonable cranking time. With GP, even at moderately warm temps, starts quickly.

FWIW: I believe what you have is an early version of the 2300, which did not have a protector for the transmission filter. I have one of the last ones (MY 2007) which does have a small protector. Better than nothing, but it's not as good as aftermarket ones.

Idling, on a level surface. If the sight glass is totally full, you probably won't be able to tell if it's empty or full; you might look at it first with the engine NOT running (it will be a bit lower) to see if you can see the fluid line in the sight glass. Then start and look again. Better...

PS--the white marks on the PTO-end of my MMM shaft are "Wite-Out" stripes that I put on; there was nothing there from the factory.

On my 2310, I find I have to rotate my slip collar end onto the mid-PTO shaft several times until it slides on... sure feels like it's keyed to me, on both ends. (MMM end has a white mark on the deck and the shaft to save time.)

I checked mine once, right after buying it lightly used -- it was really hard to remove the top plug -- it was OK, no signs of leakage or seepage, haven't touched it since 2009. Use tractor for mowing, snow blowing, log moving/holding... now have over 1K hrs on tractor (maybe half that using...

So our predicted wet snow has finally arrived, about 1-1/2 hrs behind schedule. Was only rain with a few wet flakes mixed in 2 hrs ago, but now all snow and building up.... Looks like winter out there! Grandkid might get a snow day or delayed opening after all.

Yes, I see that, and they're talking about the possibility of snow next Tuesday... but not much. (Otherwise rain.) If necessary, I can remove with the FEL, but in any case I doubt it'll stay on the ground long...at least I hope not!

Finally (hope I won't get bitten for this) cleaned, removed & stored chains, removed & serviced snowblower & quick hitch assembly, fixed a soft tire, put on FEL for moving some rocks around... Winter's over! :)

Well I'll be... Guess they DO make a tiller with only one bolt per tine. (Thanks for that drawing, Dave!) Also, I checked mine again, which is probably at least 20 years old (bought it used) -- It's a GTC40-2, not an RB40 (which is a Rear Blade, duh....)

My camera's broken so I can't post a picture... but my Woods tiller (RB40, IIRC) definitely has two large bolts (the same ones on the shaft) holding each tine. Almost looks like the wrong tines were installed!

FWIW: I always keep a couple golf tees in my toolbox for plugging fuel or vacuum lines...

I will ALWAYS remove my BH for most operations -- mowing, blowing, bucket loading/scraping, etc. Unless I plan to lift heavy stuff with the FEL, the BH is off. In actuality, the only time I put the BH on is when I plan to use it (and in that case, the FEL always goes on, too.) Not sure about...

Bummer. I have a parts book, but it's for my 2310 and I don't think it's the same set-up as yours. You might, to determine for sure if the cable's broken or not, try a hair dryer (or, if you have one, a heat gun) to thaw out the cable first -- then go from there. Probably most any control...

No, I never did rebuild it, because I never had the problem of that shaft coming off. Still have the yoke piece with the longer splined section, but haven't ever needed it. Still have the original parts on the driveshaft & quick-hitch assy -- but I DO check that shaft whenever I service it to...

Not sure about a 1526, but late GC2300 series had an issue with ground cables breaking. You might want to check that -- symptoms are the same. All dash lights, etc but no crank. Seat switch on my GC is NC, BTW.

My 2310 still does that and always has. I've taken it apart, cleaned & greased it.. and it still pops out. I just drive it with my right hand on it all the time when blowing snow. I've found that's very easy to get used to.

You know, it almost sounds like the float valve is open. Are you pushing the joystick far enough forward that you're engaging the float function? (Or is the valve permanently in float?) Where in NH?

Fantastic! I just now looked at your posts (nice job cleaning it up, BTW!) and noticed that your "cap" assembly has FOUR screws to remove it, in TWO sections, correct? Mine has just two long screws and is only one piece -- so yours is, in fact, different than mine. Same principle, but yours...

You could also maybe use some tin snips (or really heavy scissors, or a jigsaw...?) to cut away the plastic around the fittings so you could access the male parts of the couplers..? Just thinking out loud here. Or, work again at getting those four bolts & nuts off the plastic cover so it could...

Oops.. my bad! I see in his 3rd pic where the plunger --and its spring-- is sticking out, just like mine. I guess there are two parts to that assembly; inner section removed in 3rd pic but not in 2nd one. When I had mine apart, it was back in 2008!

No, he's got it. In the bottom of that cap he's holding is where the c-clip is (split ring) that's supposed to hold the plunger in the float position -- that groove at the end of the plunger is supposed to pop into that split ring. My guess is that with everything as dry as it is, it won't go...

Yes, you're right, those two socket-head screws on the larger (deeper) of the two round black things hanging down under there. Removing those will allow you to drop down the float detent socket assembly. And yes, my OEM Massey-Ferguson hydraulic couplers will release in either direction -- and...

So I just went out to my tractor to confirm above -- I now have the blower attached, and apparently that has slightly different connectors, which do NOT go either up or down to release. My FEL connectors, however, DO release in either direction. Your FEL connectors do look like my FEL connectors.

One other thing you could try: Remember I said earlier that those valves will release by moving the outer sleeve either up OR down? Assuming it's rusted inside, try a small drift punch & a small hammer on the top of the sleeve to try to break it loose by going DOWN. That might just break it...

Try pushing down on the top of the elbow as you pull up on the locking collar. I find I need to do that on my 2310, which uses the same connectors. It seems to relieve internal spring pressure in the connector. As far as the float, that's a plunger that pushes down into a release valve on the...

Those are the same connectors as on my 2310. They can move either up or down to release, but when they're connected you don't have room to easily move them downward -- so pull them UP to release, while pushing down on the elbow above to relieve the spring pressure inside the connector. PS-- you...

Dave, that issue is relatively common, with newer GC models; I've never had a freeze-up in my old 2310. Glad you could sort it out "easily"! So-- over here, I'm getting real tired of these "roller-coaster" winters we've had over the past few years... You know, starts out as rain, temps drop...

Got the pins from Grainger yesterday, and my assumption was correct, they need to be 5mm. Old new ones (3/16) came out very easily; suspect I could have pulled them out with a pair of needle-nose pliers so they probably wouldn't have lasted long. New 5mm pins definitely needed some force to tap...

I had a different set of problems with my 2325 MMM. First, the snap ring at the base of one of the swivel wheels (front) apparently fell off(??), so the whole thing dropped down and the washer fell off and was lost. Had to drill out a large washer to get that to fit, but daughter's R&D outfit...

Mine uses like a wiper motor and an open worm gear for chute rotation, and a linear actuator for angling the exit chute. Pretty slow when you have to go from "full left" to "full right," but it works.
