    Ballast box opinions

Fill the box with bricks or gravel that way you can empty it if needed. You can always add cement later. Mine is filled with bricks simply because they were on sale making them cheaper than other options at the time. Spring BF is right around the corner and .25 bricks ftw.

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

Yeah, I just glossed over Willys post since they clearly didn't read what came before. I really liked the Yanmar and almost went with a SA325. The price was right, it was comfortable, included the rear remotes I wanted. Dealer was one of the better ones, but still about an hour away and the...

    Looking for a log splitter

My countyline from TSC has been a solid unit and has split cord after cord. It’s easy to start and works well. It works vertically, but I almost never use it this way. I pull it around my property, but the wheel bearings can’t handle speed and I think it’s rated at like 25mph max so it should...

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

Everything took a lot more manual labor. 😜 Seriously, so many things I've done would have been significantly easier especially putting up the greenhouse, pulling out a hedge row, taking down trees....

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

It's been a few months and I love my B2601! It's been amazing and has helped us deal with tree removal in a way we just couldn't do before. I've added expanded metal to the grille and the tilt feature for the grill. I also got a toothbar and just got the parts in to add a level indicator and...

1.5 acres. Am I nuts for thinking about a tractor?

60 trees on 1 acre is nothing. I had double that on my just over acre lot when I moved in. Sadly, many were ash and I've removed 81 so far and have 4 more standing dead still. I have 3 more that I've been able to successfully treat so for now they are alive and doing well. The rest of the trees...

    Suggestions on 20” pro saw

The MS261c is a fantastic saw, and honestly my favorite saw. I've had one for a good 3 years and it has felled, limbed, and bucked 40+ trees. I had a MS180 for little stuff, but found I would often just use my 261 as it's light enough. I have both a 20" and 18" bar for it. Last year I added a...

Better drill for hard use? Milwaukee M18 "2904" or ...?

I’ve been very happy with my M18 and M12 tools. That said, for heavy use a corded tool will typically be better assuming there’s an outlet nearby.

    Work lights for welding?

Just adding to my post. I added some expanded metal to my grill over the weekend to make it more a brush guard and was able to see where I was placing my gun and what I was doing when the arc was lit with my hood. There's just a momentary period when the arc first strikes and when it goes out...

John Deere 2025r or Kubota lx2610

I think the dealer is probably more important than the tractor as long as you are comparing like machines. That said, the LX2610 is just more tractor than the 2025r. It has stronger hydraulics, lifts more, weighs more, and is slightly bigger. The added weight mean it will be all around more...

    Work lights for welding?

I'm a novice welder for sure, but I did decide spending a little more to improve my ability was worth it for me. I have a combination of Sunco and Costco 4ft shop lights in my garage/shop and over my welding table I think there are 3 of them. For everyday I'll just have one on, but when I'm...

1.5 acres. Am I nuts for thinking about a tractor?

Not crazy at all! I think the projects planned are more important than the size of property. I have just over an acre (about 1.3) and started looking at tractors end of last summer, early fall. I looked at them all and talked to the local dealers. In the end, I got a Kubota B2601 almost 2...

    Favorite diesel can?

I too recently purchased a shurcan. Unfortunately, I must have gotten a bad one because I filled it with diesel and depressing the trigger doesn't open the valve to release the fuel. I called the company this morning and they said they would send me a new one right away. The can seems like...

Loader B2601 third function alternative control.

I think the Kubota version has an on off switch. You could probably install an on/off interrupt switch inline with the controls.

    Dealer charge for loading tires

I would ask the dealer exactly what is included in the setup and fill tires line. My dealer had a line of about $1200 when I purchased my B2601 last month and it included all the things they did including paying their guys time to set up, go over, deliver, install the 3rd function kit, etc. I...

Summit GX Series Grapples - 54" & 60" Made in USA

Seems in line with most lightweight grapples. I have found a couple in the 200lb range, but there are lots of good options that weigh in right at 250lb or so. My landpride grapple weighs 250 and I can still lift a decent amount. Not sure how heavy some of these logs are, but they were noticably...

What are you using to lube your implements and tractors?

I recently got a Lube Shuttle grease gun and so far it's positive. I have only used it to test really so I can't say for certain how I'll like it. I use Fluid Film from time to time, but have switched to almost exclusively using Wool Wax for the same thing. It's a bit thicker, but can be...

    death of regular cab pickups

I wouldn’t buy a truck without a crew cab, but I do wish I had an 8’ bed instead of a 6’. I’d have to go to a full size and then it wouldn’t fit in my garage. Everything is a compromise. I do love my taco tho.

Gas string trimmer aka weed eater recommendations wanted

For gas powered, I really like my Stihl equipment. I have 3 chainsaws, mini tiller, and a pole saw. However, for string trimming I have moved to electric and have an original Milwaukee M18 Fuel string trimmer. I just ordered the new quick look version with articulating hedge trimmer attachment...

I'm in shock... Kubota BX pricing

When pricing tractors, Kubota was surprising affordable when getting actual quotes from dealers vs looking at MSRP. Where I did get sticker shock was at the green dealer where pricing was 4-10k than other colors.

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

Well, I'm anxiously hoping for good news soon. Last I heard from the dealer they were waiting on the pallet forks, grapple, and 3rd function kit still and said probably 2-3 weeks as they were available, just had to get to them. That was about a week and a half ago. In the meantime, I picked up...

I hate grass raking! How can i avoid it? do i need a new tractor?

I mulch in summer when I can, but when the grass grows quickly I mow twice a week and often there is too much for the clippings to just disappear. When this happens, I just hook up my lawn sweeper behind my GT and just drive over the lawn again. No more clumps of grass.

    Yanmar SA424 - 1.3L 3TNV80F - engine hop up

Messecks did a video about why you can’t climb a hill with good tips. For modding, TractorTime with Tim turbo’d a 1025r and has some videos on it. Might be worth a watch.

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

Stopped back to local Kubota dealer and decided I’ll go with a B2601. I got a Landpride 60” grapple and a pallet forks with it. Dealer only used an updated calcium chloride solution with citrus that is supposed to make it non-corrosive. I don’t quite trust that so I will get a ballast box and...

TruFuel 50-1or Stihl 50-1 or Red Armor 50-1??

I started using Stihl Motomix about 5 years ago and haven't gone back to mixing my own fuel. I have a leaf blower, 3 chainsaws, and a pole saw. My SO has the Srihl mini tiller that takes accessories. Everything is Stihl except my blower I got used and it's an echo. My chainsaws have never had...

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

If I have some time I'll have to go check them out. Nearest dealer is not one I would work with again, and next nearest is about an hour away at a 3rd location of the Yanmar dealer. They have 3 locations, 2 sell Yanmar and one sells LS.

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

Thanks for the advice so far. Talking through it with my SO, I am leaning towards Kubota. Dealers are closer and there are more of them and it'll hold value a bit more than a Yanmar if I ever sell. Kubota also has R14 tires while Yanmar only offers R4 or turf. I have a splitter and have...

Buying Advice Looking to buy my first tractor

I may have to go back and look closer at the LX2610 and the B2601. Specs show the LX to be a touch bigger with a slightly stronger loader. I'm not sure what the cost difference would be or if there are any other amenities the LX has the B doesn't. Off to YouTube... For brands, There's an LS...

Buying Advice  Looking to buy my first tractor

Hello all, I’ve been searching the forums quite a bit, but figured I’d post to both introduce myself and ask some questions. I’m in WNY and have a little over an acre of land. Where I’m at, I don’t get a ton of snow, but it gets cold and I get snow. I have a long driveway, I don’t remember...

    Garden Tractors

Does Cub Cadet still make the XT3? Shaft drive hydro and built strong. Simplicity was still making garden tractors a few years ago as well. JD x700 is a true garden tractor and some of the better speced x500 series would be considered GT as well. I've got an old wheelhorse 312-8 and it's a beast!

    Thinkin about..

Lots of recs for Dolmar and while they are good saws, you need to know they are no longer being made and parts will not be available for long. I've got a 261c and absolutely love it! I wanted to add a saw last year to pull a 24" bar and bought an Echo CS620p and was not impressed. It may have...

    3rd Function on SA324/424

Just thought I'd throw in an update. Apparently, yanmar parts are available now. I priced up a SA325 Monday and adding 3rd function was about $830 at the dealer for parts and labor. The labor part would change by location. I would think it would be possible to ask the dealer to order the parts...

    Latest grab by auto manufactures

    Latest grab by auto manufactures

I have owned both Subaru and Toyotas systems. The vehicles only brake when collision is imminent and will warn you before doing so. Both systems work well and aren’t bothered by pulling into a garage or tight parking spot. Both also have subscription services available. All features still work...
