Ted etal, can you make me a smooth edge? I have a little Yanmar with a 4' wide bucket that needs a cutting edge. It has no mounting hole so no need for custom lay out. I would want smooth for driveway grading and snow scraping etc. Thanks!

Hey all. I have a no name FEL with a little bitty bucket on it. I'm wondering if anyone has found a good source for a hardened cutting edge for a 48" bucket. I would like a reversible one, held one by carriage bolts. The mild steel edge....isn't gonna cut it. :cautious:

You guys guess good! Flow rate is 4.5 gallons at 2400 rpm (PTO speed). I didn't think about them being open/closed centers, I'll see if I can check that tonight. As far as float....Hmm...only way toc check that might be to pull the spool....or should it just "stick" in the forward position...

Well we’ve had a HECK of alot of snow here, at least at my work that is. The Mack was getting stuck, I got the 120M grader stuck several times, so, when in doubt, D6! You know its snowed alot when you have to remember “dont hang the blade on the telephone line!” 😳

Ah yup. You just don’t have enough room. If its a plain ol rake (no hydraulics etc) perhaps you could extend the rakes frame? The majority of them seem to be 4” box tube between the 3 point and the actual rake, toss another foot or so of tube in?

Welp. This here is the report post. IT WORKED! WELL! Finally had a chance to get to the property, we had 14-16” of snow sitting on the ground, still fairly fluffy. The blower worked great! Would chuck snow about 20’ which is plenty for my needs. The only issue I had is where snow is pushed up...

Have you tried running a shorter top link? Sometimes a shorter one, shortened all the way up and lifted fully will create enough space to spin the rake around to use in reverse….sometimes.

Yup, all greased up good, I just run red n tacky, works in heavy equipment, it’ll work in a wee tractor. And good call on the motorcycle chain lube, I was just smearing grease on the chain….meanwhile I have chain lube in my flam locker for…..my motorcycle chain!

Well she’s all done. Used a little 2500lb winch to lift and lower the blower. Shaft drive seems to be working well. Now uh……I need some snow….

Well I found a bushing cut for the pto splines, its a split taper style. I purchased a belt pulley to go onto that bushing but, it was the wrong size bore for that bushing. Found an H bushing that is cut correctly to go into the pto shaft. Also started building my under belly mounts. Should have the back on of the drive system all figured out here real soon.

This was the first option I was leaning towards. The only thing that gave me pause is what kind of steel is it, and will it take and hold a weld well. I was thinking of Lovejoy couplers. IIRC I would have to support the shaft on both sides of the Lovejoy would I not? Not an impossibility, just...

Any one know of a way I can adapt 1' keyed round stock to 13t 7/8' stock? Any adapters that are ready made?

That actually does help a little. I’ve been doing some reading around, seems some of the mower type blower might run either ~700 up to 1000 rpm. And thanks for the advice on the chains. I think you are right on the money. Seems diamond pattern chains would be in constant contact with the ground.

I need the desired RPMs for the snow blower (not the engine) so I can back calculate my drive system.

Any one know where I can get an H bushing that will fit a PTO shaft??

I was just thinking a little weight on the front tires to help steerage while the blower is on the ground trying to keep the tractor from turning. Anyone know the ideal RPM for small blower to chuck snow good? its the one piece I need to calculate my gearing etc.
