    I’m using the already mentioned Rotella T6. Forget about the once a year change, change it at the recommended hours otherwise you’re just wasting a very valuable natural resource. Congratulations on the new to you used tractor, seems like it should be a very nice tractor.

    Sure sounds like bad battery , I think NAPA should replace one or both of them under warranty. I also recommend buying a charger equipped with a desulfurization mode and hook it up to every battery you own a couple times per year

    Oh sure it’s broke in at 100,000 miles but usually many many more trouble free miles left. Lots of folks wouldn’t even consider buying a motorcycle with 100,000 miles on it, I probably wouldn’t ether because there are plenty of low miles ones available reasonably priced.

    They ain’t forcing anything, even Honda has been surprised by how many folks choose the 7 speed DCT over the manual 6 speed transmission . I have taken test rides on both and highly prefer the DCT. The 2002 Goldwing I bought brandnew currently shows 613,000 miles on odometer.

    I believe the rough terrain and mud you mentioned pretty much rules out a zero turn mower for you. Probably better off looking for a nice used tractor type mower until your lawn gets repaired.

    If the blade face doesn’t have a significant curve built in it won’t be as strong and won’t dig in well or cause the snow-gravel or whatever your trying to move to roll. Curved face blades are more expensive but usually work much better than straight faced blades.

    I’ve only seen 1 TYM tractor in real life but I was impressed, reading the spec sheet they seem to have much higher capacity hydraulic pump than most other brands.

    I usually carry a 10 foot chain laying on the cab floor, works pretty well for me, on the rare occasion that I need more chain I carry it in the FEL bucket along with a chainsaw or whatever other tools might be needed.

    Had a Walmart battery in my 8N ford that lasted an unbelievable 18 years, it finally failed in 2018 so I bought another one, it’s now 5 years old and still working like new. You never really know when a battery might fail, I highly recommend occasionally using a charger with a built in desulfator.

    If your tractor is equipped with Hydrostatic transmission so you can easily control your speed either size blower should work. I would recommend a blower that’s slightly wider than the wheels on your tractor.

    I have been using premixed Peak Global Lifetime in everything I own for about the last 20 years, the original water pump in my Honda Goldwing lasted 450,000 miles. I highly recommend going with premixed pretty much any reputable brand because it eliminates mistakes and doesn’t cost much more.

    Lots of good uses for never seize but in my opinion PTO shafts Is not a good place to use it.

    My experience If it’s only in there for a year it rinses off with a garden hose pretty easy, longer than a year it takes some pretty serious scrubbing to remove it all from the inside of the rim, I bet after 3 years it would be very difficult if not impossible to remove.
