I've been giving this thing a heck of a workout the last few weekends doing tree jobs. Each weekend we'll fill a 1 ton dump truck 3-4x. With fresh knives, this thing is an absolute monster. I didn't realize how dull the bed knife was in the first couple test uses until i went to flip it before...

Buying Advice Are TYM tractors junk?

I had my neighbors tym 474 in the shop last week to fix some broken loader bolts. As a cnc machinist and mechanical engineer, I'm VERY glad I bought a massey 1740m instead. It's like comparing an old harbor freight ratchet to a matco ratchet. Yes, they both do the same thing, but the amount of...

I made a bracket that spaced the air filter down and forward slightly. Silly photo server here, let me try again. After a solid 4 hours, I'd say the tune and intercooler was a success! The tractor has way more power now running the chipper. Even with duller knives than I realized, only limbs...

Hitch failure on a Diamond C FMAX 212

When i ordered my diamond c 212, I purposely upgraded to the square coupler tube. No issues and I run heavy regularly. Looking at it from an engineering point of view, if the inner tube failed first, the outer tube would absolutely fail in rapid succession. DC doesn't build the inner tube...

PTO Chipper Advice -- maneuverability and center of gravity concerns

How many other people have upgraded to a vermeer 606/906 from any of the other pto units? The woodmaxx is absolutely a tin can vs the vermeer. The 8h might be 900lbs, but the 906 is 2150lbs and a 606 is 1400lbs. The folding part of the feed chute is 3/16" thick alone. I'd be happy to add some...

Took advantage of a 20° cooler day than yesterday to get rid of some poplars in odd places. This was 5-6" at the butt and feed set as slow as it goes, ran it much faster when doing the brush. With the 3 point lift rods moved it does pickup substantially higher also.

That was max lift height at the moment of the picture. The 3 point lift links that run down to the lower arms were at their longest possible setting. I moved them to their shortest possible setting after taking the chipper off, so it should go substantially higher now :).

    Chipper recommendation

I have a woodmaxx wm8m and it's fantastic. Anything over 4" is firewood, but the 8x8 throat saves on secondary trimming. Heck, I wish the opening was 12x12, it would be even better! Woodland Mills WC68 vs WC88?

I have a woodmaxx wm8m on a 45hp (engine) tractor. Do not get anything smaller than an 8" in feed opening for the simple reason of less trimming. Anything over 4-5" is firewood to me, but that 8" opening disappears real quick when it's not a matchstick. If I ever stumble across a used mx9900...

What tractor has this combination of features?

Anything that has a mechanical pump means it can't be that complex to remove. Just requires a little creativity to fool the sensors/data recorder! I just know what all those lovely 3 letter acronym devices do over the long haul to an engine and if I were to spend the coin on something new, I'm...

What tractor has this combination of features?

I took a deeper look at current Mahindra offerings and the 1640 and 2638 look pretty good spec wise and I'm very glad to see they still don't use a DPF. I'll make it a point to drop by a dealer and put some hands on them. As handy as it would be to keep the 1520 and have a newer cabbed unit...

What tractor has this combination of features?

Hey guys, through a series of fortunate events over the last 5 years, I've ended up with two tractors for very good deals and I'm thinking it might be a perfect opportunity to sell them both and upgrade to one larger/slightly newer unit. The two tractors I have are both mid 90s new hollands...

    Loader for Ford/NH 2120

I have a 1620 and just went through the same pain in rear. I bought the tractor with the factory front blower and no loader. I hunted for a few months calling every new tractor dealer anywhere remotely near, watching fb marketplace, Craigslist, etc. I also got a quote from westendoef for $4700...

    Chipper Advice on PTO Chipper

I had been looking for good a bit and missed 3 used units, but I got lucky on this one! The owner got a short notice transfer for work so they were liquidating the estate.

    Chipper Advice on PTO Chipper

Keep your eyes peeled on searchtempest and Facebook marketplace. I just picked up this woodmax wm8m with 1.0 hours on it for $1400 in Wisconsin. Gave it a quick test and it chewed a whole 6" butt poplar like nothing. I'm running it on my turbo 1620. Not sure of exact pto hp, but has to be over...

    Craigslist junk to something useful

Got a pair of beat up ramsey 8k hydraulic winches for cheap off Craigslist a while back. Made one decent winch out of the two, some scrap steel from the shop, and now I have a hydraulic winch on my boom pole for dragging logs in! I heat my house and shop with a wood boiler, so I burn about 20...

    Turbo NH 1620

After the last snowstorm, it was very apparent my 1620 could use some more *** for blowing large drifts. For a total of $300, it's now turbocharged! Disclaimer, diesel performance is what I do for a living. I fully understand the potential risks and methods for minimizing them. Please don't...

Zexel Injection pump internal leak repair

Fired up my 1620 the other day and proceeded to blow a 2ft diameter oil puddle out from the crankcase breather tube. I quickly shut it off as soon as I noticed it, pulled the dipstick and it was ALL the way full with the odor of raw diesel. I ran the tractor less than 2 weeks ago and the oil...

    Adding rear remotes to 1620

Howdy guys! I recently acquired a early 90s NH 1620 that I would like to add a 3 spool rear remote valve to. I'd like to do hydraulic top and side links and convert my box blade teeth to hydraulic up/down. The tractor has a front end loader control valve with a power beyond plug on the bottom...

    JD750 vs NH/Ford 1620

Hello folks, I've searched the net and haven't found anyone discussing these two in the same conversation. The reason for these two is there is one of each for sale within reasonable distance of me for what I feel are reasonable prices (as reasonable as compact tractor prices are anyway...
