    New LT42e owner.

Hi all, I'm new to the cub cadet pages on this site having just purchased the all electric LT42e XT1 to replace my 2008 John Deere LA145 with a 48" deck. The old deck finally rusted completely through, and as replacement decks are hard to find, I decided to trade up. So far so good. I mow a...

    Finally built me a woodshed.

I've had some leftover lumber and plywood from when the house was built four years ago. I've been meaning to do this sooner, but you know how that goes. I ended up buying new 2x4's for the rafters as the ones I had were starting to rot; tarps always leak eventually. I had some split cedar 8...

1000g propane tank floated out of the ground.

So I spent the money on a 1000g propane tank last summer and had it buried with about a foot of sand all around it. A couple of months ago we had a very rainy stretch in Western Washington. The tank had right about 490 gallons in it and the bugger floated out of the ground! I'm not sure what to...

BX 3PH lower link wrench size.

Hello all, I need help on a quick question. I'm miles away from my tractor at the moment and want to buy a ratcheting wrench to adjust my lower links (turnbuckles) on my BX24 3 point hitch. Does that take a 17mm or 19mm? I've searched and searched the net and youtube and can't find the...

    Removing FEL hyd line.

I have a leaky hose on my BX-24 FEL. It leaks where it connects to the tractor and I would love to be able to overhaul the end pieces, but I can't get them loose for the life of me and I'm almost stripping one of the nuts. My next strategy is to detach the line from the FEL, take it to a...

BX-24 and Bro-Tek thumb vs. stump

This cedar stump took me about 2 hours to dig out several weeks ago. I finally got around to moving it today. I couldn't lift it with the loader and didn't want to drag it and scrape up the lawn. I finally managed to grab it with the backhoe and the thumb. I had to have a big rock in the...

No forks, but the tooth bar works!

I had to move a 400 pound generator by myself and came up with a rope and wood frame combo. At first I thought I was going to use the backhoe and some sort of crossbeam to lift the thing, then I though I could just hook the ropes on the tooth bar teeth and I was good to go. It would have been...

I nominate myself for the Darwin award...

So earlier I elected to have these crates moved rather than destroyed, thinking they would come in handy as a shed or a playhouse. Well, these eyesores had to get moved again as the housewarming party is this Sunday. I was planning on destroying one of the three, then moving the other two...

Mowing  Need a mower and some persuasion.

We just moved into our new house and are puttitng in about an acre and a half of lawn. We have a BX24 and were wondering what the best solution for a mower would be. The MMM is about $2000 as I understand it. For that money you can buy a brand new riding lawn mower and not have to worry about...

    Some BX Rock/Thumb work.

I'm finally getting the swing of the new thumb. I dug out several rocks this size... Then this rock I was able to lift out of the hole, but the boom wouldn't budge when I tried to lift it. I was able to drag it about 10 feet; the tractor had it almost off the ground. I then picked it up with...

    BX loader linkage leakage.

I've been having a slow leak at one of my quick-connect FEL lines (the four in a row in the brass bar) for quite sometime. I've tried tightening them, tried leaving the loader without any pressure in it, but still I get a slow leak. It is almost imperceptible, but the flat part of the brass...

While my tractor was presenting its underside, I decided to snap a photo or two. This is a pretty good view of the step kit to reinforce the floor to stop cracking the fender, and a Bro-Tek rear skid plate.

    BX vs. 42" x 30" x 510 foot utility ditch.

So I got a good deal on digging a 510 foot utility ditch. $400. I told them I could backfill it myself since I didn't know how long it would take the electric company and the phone company to get out and lay their respective products. I knew it had to be 42" deep, tapered to 30" at the vault...

Another use for a box scraper.

It occurred to me that this might be a better way to drag a fence than a log. It seems that it tracks pretty well behind the tractor. If you used another couple of straps to secure the rear portion of the fence to the scraper you could lift it up as well. The first picture was the original...

    BX24 warranty kit installation.

I finally got a chance to get out to the tractor and install the grip/battery screen and step kits. The grip and screen kits were so easy they aren't even worth mentioning, though the throttle grip was kind of a pain to get on. It took a lot of twisting while forcing it on. The battery screen...

Got my BX grip/step/battery screen kits

I spent a few hours on the tractor today and had a surprise waiting on the doorstep when we got home. I called my dealer last week about these warranty items, talked to the service manager, and he had no problem shipping them directly to me as I am about 90 miles away. I totally didn't expect a...

    Broken BX turnbuckle

I noticed that my box scraper had a little too much play side to side and was too slow getting around to tightening the turnbuckles I guess. I was working it pretty hard. Upon inspection, the original welds didn't seem to be very beefy, but then I'm not a welder. The good news is I took it to...

    BX24 missing part?

I've been working the ol' BX very hard this week and I've begun to wonder if I may have lost a part off the bottom. Specifically, one that holds up the MMM bracket. I can't remember how the whole apparatus looked beforehand, but now it seems to hang down a little. I don't have a MMM so I'm not...

    BX fender replacement for DIY'ers

I decided to write all of this out and made a .pdf file out of it. If you want to print this, just download the .pdf file and print that. The end result: success and no trips to the hardware store! Here is a side-by-side of the old and new BX fenders. You will note the 4 ribs they added on...

Why trencher for B21 but not for BX's?

Kubota's B21 has a PTO HP of 13.5 while the BX-24 has a PTO HP of 17.7. Yet Kubota lists a trencher for the B21, but not for the BX. Anybody know why that is? Lift height is lower on the BX's, of course. Is that it? Maybe the trenchers are too heavy for the BX to lift?

    Moving my BX-24

The yard project is done and I need to move my BX-24 10 miles away to our vacant lot. Ideally, my dealer will come pick it up, do the seat recall, and deliver it to my lot. Unfortunately they are not able to tell me when they will get the parts for the seat recall. I could hire a tow truck...

    BX-24 Sprinkler/yard/fence project.

I spent many an hour on this little project this spring. I ended up with about 45 hours on the tractor to bury 700 feet of sprinkler pipe, build 225 feet of fence, spread 40 yards of topsoil, and spread 20,000 pounds of drain rock. This was a new house on 1/5 of an acre with an unfinished...

    Implement Paint Job.

I finally got tired of looking at my Deere green box blade and yellow post hole digger. This project took 6.5 cans of spray paint. I used paint from Agri-Supply; the label on the top says 60861, and on the UPC code it says 8-02971 Kubota Orange. In retrospect, I'm kind of thinking that the...

    Backhoe  Squeaky BX-24 backhoe?

I've used my backhoe a fair amount, about 20-25 hours, and have always greased it dilligently. For the last several hours I have been hearing a loud squeak while operating it. At first it was only occasionally but eventually it became more regular. I was freaking out that I had somehow missed...

    My BX24 50 hour service.

The day finally arrived about four months after delivery; I broke the 50 hour mark on my BX-24. Fortunately I had thought ahead and purchased UDT, oil, and both filters ahead of time. I figured it would take a couple of hours as I had read the manual and figured it was basically the same thing...

Having trouble hooking up PTO driveshaft.

I can't seem to get this thing to go on to the tractor. It will go on as far as the ball bearings inside the coupling, but they seem to be stopping me from putting it on any further. Need some 3pt advice for the BX24

I unhooked the backhoe without any problem, but ran into some issues when hooking up the 3pt and box scraper. Laying sprinkler pipe.

I have sod laid over hard clay and need to get the sprinkler pipe down about 8 inches. I used the BX24 backhoe to dig the trench, carefully peeling the sod off as best as I could, then piled the clay in a different spot. This would be the one time having a 12 inch bucket is not an advantage...

    Chipper for BX24?

Newbie here. I did a search on this topic but didn't turn up a whole lot. I recently purchased a BX24, though it hasn't been delivered yet. I was thinking of getting the DR PTO chipper but noticed it requires a 19HP minimum and the BX24's PTO Horsepower is 17.7 or so. That kind of bummed me...
