My cousin's daughter just bought some hunting land. I bought this old spring tooth as a welcome to thge neighborhood gift.

I'd have your realtor tell their realtor that you have been actively looking at other properties, but that he might be able talk you into making another bid. That way you don't seem too eager.

1st time at my new property & 1st time ever brush-hogging - some lessons learned

Make sure your PTO shaft isn't too long. That could damage your tractor. Also, most rotary cutters I've seen have kind of a swivel at the top link so it can give some slack on uneven ground. Please post a picture of yours. If you don't have that, or its travel is insufficient, you may...

1st time at my new property & 1st time ever brush-hogging - some lessons learned

The first thing I would say is Slow Your Roll You don't have to jam it to everything, break stuff, work till dehydration, etc. You don't have to buy new gadgets to hook things up. Use a pipe to help position the implement to your 3pt for hook up Installing the PTO shouldn't be difficult. It...

    Compact sub compact?

I would prefer a compact tractor (Kubota B, of John Deere 2xxx series) over a SCUT (Kubota BX, of John Deere 1xxx series). Your usage/location is helpful information. In that case, a subcompact would be fine. My neighbor has a Kubota GR2120 garden tractor. It is amazing how much snow he can...

Rotary Cutter Is a stump jumper needed for a 4-foot brush hog?

To me,a 4 footer best suits the size of the tractor, not just in terms of power, but also maneuverability, and intuitive use. I have to say that a stump cutter has saved my bacon more than a few times when I ran over stumps that supposedly knew they were there. By the time I hit the clutch...

Agreed. Even if you don't make another offer just now, your realtor should be finessing things behind the scenes.

It's hard to know who the decision maker(s)s, especially after a death in the family. Maybe it is just the widow, but she wants assurance from her children that this is a fair deal. Maybe it is up to the children. In any case, I would expect your realtor to be more in the know. They are an...

Need advice on Identification and Repair of this old corn planter.

I de-greased and de-rusted things the best I could. Then I gave it a basic paint job. All the shafts turn, and all the zerks I could find took grease. I couldn't find any zerks for (front) shaft that drives the seed plates. Here is a pic of the base. Should there be a zerk in that hole -...

A 4 series John Deere would be a nice tractor. I wouldn't rule out a 3 series either if you find a good deal. I always struggle with the backhoe question. There a those who say they would never be without one. There are those who who say they seldom get used and/or are a pain to...

What implements do y'all have for food plots, and what do you wish you had?

Those tiny seeds like to be 1/8"-1/4" deep. My homemade tire chain drag, followed by a roller or cultipacker does a nice job of that.

We have plenty of deer also, but we've found another way to spend more money on hunting. A person should never itemize what the true cost per pound of venison is

Given the prices cultipackers are going for these days, I am posting a video of a DIY version. The poster says if he did it again, he would have used single wall culvert. I probably would have used a different shaft with pillow block bearings, but this is a pretty good option.
