    I had a friend with an 8n that had the clutch get wet - it kind of rusted onto the flywheel and wouldn't release. He somehow got it started in high gear, gave it full throttle, pushed in the clutch, and kept hitting the brakes. It eventually freed up. edited to add push in the clutch

    You can put 16.9 x 24 on a 14.9 x 24 tire, but putting a 14.9 x 24 chain on a tire marked 16.9 x 24 won't work so well because the cross chains won't extend as far down the sides of the tire. They will be more likely to come off in use.

    After the 2nd or 3rd year of mowing those mini stumps are gone and it's just grass. Mowed through the middle of 8' brush with a 15hp Shibaura. Pure grass after 2 years - no stubs.

    I was thinking that if your jack doesn't have enough stroke, You could make a linkage kind of like a snowplow lift to amplify the leverage.

    A rake grapple can probably haul more brush, but a root grapple is probably better if you also want to use it as a ""dozer" to grub out roots.

    I don't have a grapple, but I used some scrap angle iron to bolt on to my forks to make them more of a debris fork. It works great for hauling brush.

    The vertical plate is your stabilizer. You could make additional lower arms with offsets to make the spacing narrower or wider. This is how it is done on a John Deere 2640. You can invert the blocks to change the spacing.

    It's been a while, but as I recall, it doesn't freeze hard like ice, but more like the consistency of a rotted stump, or the snow the plow leaves on your driveway. A manure fork or a toothed bucket would help. We were able to penetrate it with a John Deere B and a trip loader with a manure bucket.

    I'm guessing that there is no need to turn the key to the left to actuate the glow plugs. Just turn it slightly to the right. A yellow glow plug light will appear on the dash. When the light goes off, turn the key all the way to the right to engage the starter.

    I agree. They could start with great communications, prompt delivery and a decent website. I would even give them a new product idea - a rear guide wheel for rear blades that has a "universal" attachment bracket. It really changes the functionality of a rear blade.

    Around here it's kind of the opposite. They bid out the big jobs, but if something small needs to be done (after a storm for instance) , they'll call one of the locals who will get it done on the cheap. The contractors who are willing to put in bids would charge double.

    I'd take 2 of my smaller saws (rather have agility than power), 4 extra chains and a good file. Once you get going, you'll figure out if it makes sense to have a second person on the pile to hook things up (so you never have to set the saw down)

    Person on the pile should wear a life preserver of some sort, and I would have a boat nearby or in the river. Once the tops are cut off and removed, it should be safe enough to peel things away from the edges (low water, 3' depth, modest current).

    My Kubota L3010 GST (34hp) is a Glide Shift Transmission. I can change gears and direction without clutching My New Holland T2310 (40hp) is a shuttle transmission. I have to push in the clutch to change gears or direction. It would be good if the OP could play in a dirt pile at the dealership...

    FWIW, I had a 34hp New Holland hydro. Now I own a 40hp New Holland shuttle. I like the larger frame shuttle way more for the work it gets done. YMMV

    It looks like - to start - A good bit of chainsaw work to cut the top stuff up into 4'-5' chunks and cable it over to shore. Then you'll have an idea of what's left in the water to winch to shore Jenga style.

    You need to check it right after the shear pin breaks (not after it has thawed out) to see what is blocking it. One theory is that maybe you aren't giving it a chance to clear out fully when you stop blowing and then it gets stuck on a chunk of ice.

    The logjam is within reach of an excavator boom? How deep is the river around it? Otherwise I see a person on the pile attaching cables and a whole lot of winching. What harm is it causing - just aesthetics?
