I have been over/through my basement, but haven't run the metal detector over the crawl space area ... Yet!

Will need to figure out if it's better to cash in a CD earlier, or get a small loan, or just wait until I have the cash ...

Original budget for buying another tractor was $7K, I doubled that for the Mini-X instead, but now considering another 50% on top of that still ... It's only money, I get more every week!

It's only money...
The first time I heard that, was a customer talking to me about how much they were paying me.

It's stuck with for two reasons.
  • It's true - you can't take it with you, so what are you going to do with it while you're here?
  • It really surprised me, that they, the paying customer, was willing to pay more than expected, to get what they needed.
Side note - that customer is still with us today, and in our top 10, purchase-wise. Probably top 5 relationship-wise. I have so many favorite customers, but between the longevity and our business dealings I just love them. I don't have the dates in front of me, but it has to be '90s. AND, he gave us our #1 and #2 top-sales customers. That goes a long ways... :D

For example my 2005 Kubota L5030 gross 52 HP meets the standard without any computer aided sensors ... Which is considered tier 2.

In 2008 is when tier 4 starts (no tier 3 in this engine size) they cut the required Particulate Matter by half, but everything else is the same as tier 2 ...
Interesting EPA table.

I bought my '05 Kioti CK30H (30hp) new in 2005 and the owner's manual calls it an "interim Tier IV". So it is really a Tier II?

I think it runs super-clean, but glow plugs are required to start it, even in warm temps. My older tractors did not, plus they really stank.

My 2005 52 HP 4 cylinder Kubota only needs the glow plugs down below about 35°F ... I hardly ever start it though at that temp ... Today ...mid 50's starts with a tiny puff of black smoke, no glow plugs ... I'm not worried about that tiny bit of "pollution" ... My barn is hardly air tight! Actually has a "opening" on one end 20' wide by 14' tall, that's before I open the 10' wide door to drive though ...

Maybe I'm confused, but Sunday 9 PM you were just west of the OH border, now your back home again?

" Drove through Springfield MO around 04:00 this morning, got home, got a few things done, and left, now a few miles west of the OH border (8:47 PM Sunday EDT)"

Then today Tuesday 6:30 PM " Today mid 50's starts with a tiny puff of black smoke, no glow plugs"

You sure do cover some ground in two days!

Yup, I'm. Truck DRIVER! New truck less than a year old, more than 153K on the odometer, all but the first 357 miles put on by me!

I left Richmond, IN, delivered in Chillicothe, OH, picked up a load in London, OH, got home yesterday morning around 9am ... Headed out the door now, gotta be in Southern California Friday before the sun comes up!

Next "scheduled" time off is 2nd week in May, but ... I may "swing by" for a few hours or a day, depending on my log book and the load ...

Looks like the Deere 35D dropped in price ... IIRC it was $19,500, or $19,900 ...

The location is kinda screwy, it doesn't really show up on a map ... The name does associate with the guy, but lists a residential address ...

Consignment?

Sent from my SM-S901U using TractorByNet mobile app

Hmmm ... You maybe on to something . . .

If I click on his other listings ... He only has this one, but the pictures definitely show other equipment around ... Not sure what the deal is, once I get to California tomorrow morning, I'll see where I'm going, if it's back up through Missouri, I may call him and see if I can get my 72' long truck in his place and go look at it and talk to him ...

While the Hitachi is at a rental yard, it seems to have only 100 hours since they acquired it from an auction a year ago, (no idea of its previous life, but does look like it's turn-key and ready to go to work, but still has half the hours the JD does, buts it's an all day 600 mile round trip drive from my house ... But that seller has 157 listings, and a link to there own website ...

Oh and he has this too - nice! We have a 2022 Kubota u35-4 excavator coming with thumb and under 1100 hours!

Shawn - he has a pretty decent FB page with a number of machines for sale Top Tier Equipment Sales LLC in Springfield, MO

Got good reviews 53 locally seems like a decent fellow, and is next to springfield MO airport.

Thanks, I saw a mention of face and something else, but I don't do Facebook, so I didn't think I could see anything, but I followed your link, and he seems legitimate!

The address in TH goes to the South side of I-44, zooming in on it doesn't look anything like heavy equipment showing in his pictures ... The airport is over in that general area, but on the North side of I-44 ...

I'll call him and see what he says ...

Well, Google maps must not be up to date, as it looks more mostly like old cab a chassis trucks there ...

I'm in Arizona now out of hours, will leave for California in the morning, still haven't gotten any new load information ...

Talked to the bank today, they say wire from out of state is fine to just call in, certified check can be returned if I don't use it ...

I was thinking today as I was driving along ... Original budget was under $15K, and that Deere 19D was $13,500 with about 2K hrs ... Then I bumped the search to see what $20K would buy ... The Hitachi (1409 hrs) and Deere 35D (2600 hrs) came up, both much more capable diggers ... So I decided to see what $25K would show ... Surprised that a Deere 26G came up, which I believe is a yellow version of the Hitachi 26 ... But they want $23,500 for it and almost 2200 hrs on it, cosmetically it's in pretty rough shape compared to the cheaper Hitachi, and a smaller version of the much more capable 35D, and it's 540 mile round trip ... Doesn't sound like much of a deal to me ...

There really wasn't much else that caught my eye ...

I want to look at the local 35D, but I really like the idea of the low hour Hitachi which looks very nice ...

Some more rambling thoughts ...

I guess what I was trying to say was more money doesn't always get you bigger and better ...

While both 26's are about 600 miles apart, is it a regional thing, or does the Deere have the "yellow tax" like they say about the green tractors? Or is the 26G just a crazy price? (Or does the 35D just need that much more work?) Or nobody wants the ZX26U up in that area? Or they bought it cheap at an auction, and just want to move it?

I have the cash in the bank to buy the 1st one mentioned in post #1 the Deere 17D, I'm under the impression that it is worlds better than the SCUT TLB I'm use too ... Do I really need more?

Both the ZX26U and the 17D are up in the same rough area near the quad cities near the Iowa and Illinois borders ...

I'm thinking if I look at the local 35D, then drive North and look at those two up there, I could put one of them on my trailer and bring it back, or come back empty and see if I want the 35D ...

I do like that the ZX26U has a quick attach type bucket arrangement though, and it's the lowest number of hours, but highest price!
