Currently looking at these two tractors. I’m looking for something that will not tear up my yard. It will be used to help with yard work and to occasionally spread dirt or gravel. May do some occasional light farm work but have a larger JD for that. Both tractors have good dealer support.

They each have positives and negatives. Kubota is $5k more but should have better resale. It also has a 3 speed transmission and T25 is 2 speed. The TYM seems a touch bigger and is a little heavier. Prefer the foot pedals on the T25. Kubota seems to have smoother loader control.

Does anyone have any experience with both of these or any suggestions on others that are similar size I should look at? Do you guys the the Kubota would be worth the extra $5k?

How is the dealer support in your area on both brands?
They are both good machines, but any brand is subject to having something break, so dealer support is critical.
Personally I lean towards the T25 especially for 5k in savings.

Dealer support would be good for either. I know the owner of the TYM store well. He’ a smaller dealer that hasn’t been dealing tractors as long but he will bend over backward for people. Kubota dealer is larger dealer that has been around longer. I don’t know them as well but they have a good reputation. Bought a mower from them years ago and they treated me well with that.

That's tough.

The Kubota is going to have solid parts support behind it, a massive dealer network, and arguably better fit and finish. Plus, now that I've had a 3 range hydro, I can't imagine going back to 2.

On the flip side the B2601 is a little less capable, and the T25 has proven itself as a really reliable little tractor. TYM sells quite a few of them, and I was personally impressed with the little tractor after messing around with it for a bit at a dealer open house when it was introduced.

I would rank the kubota a fair bit higher than the TYM on comfort level. The Hydraulics will be much smoother, my B2601 can do lift & tilt on the loader fine, my (larger) TYM not so much and that might not seem like a big deal but it's definitely a comfort feature (depending on how you use the loader it matters.. more or less..). The 3pt on the Kubota will also be much smoother when lifting, all the TYM's are jerky on the way up. The 3 speed range vs 2 is also imho pretty nice to have - especially if you have much for hills. The fit & finish will likely be a bit better as well.

On the flip side the TYM is heavier built and has more capacity so if that's important to your use case that could be a convincing argument - plus ofc the non trivial price difference.

The 2 pedal vs rocker is a religious argument. You'll see folks coming out strongly for one or the other but the general preference is the 2 pedal. Especially if you have any mobility or strength issues the rocker can get old fast.

Excellent point about the Kubota having smoother hydraulics, and it's easier to perform multiple functions at once with the Kubota.

I have an older B2601 and got it JUST FOR THE TURF TIRES! (and the loader ;-)

The Hurlimann (435, 35HP) on Ag tires really rips up any grass.

The B2601 is very easy to operate, comfortable, Starts easily, but the fwd/rev/ pedal takes a bit of "learning". I'm getting there after a year ;-)
I put a pair of rear remotes on, one with float. The fit and function is flawless. I also upgraded the generator/ dynamo for a 35 amp alternator. Lots of electric power now.

I can say nothing of the TYM, sorry.

Thanks for the info! I went and looked at both one more time and ended up with the TYM. It was just slightly larger and just seemed like a little more tractor. I also liked the pedal setup much better. The hydraulics aren’t quite as smooth as the Kubota but it wasn’t far off and it will actually lift and curl at the same time. Overall, I decided to save the money and I think I’ll be perfectly happy with the TYM.

Check out the oil engine capacity difference.
Kubota holds twice the oil and should provide longer life, in my opinion.

I wouldn't stress too much about the longevity of the Yanmar plant in the TYM. Honestly the engines would be the least of my worry in either machine.

They must have upgraded valves on that one, good to hear and I wish that were true on mine :). It makes dumping dirt a bit easier (or at least faster) in some cases.

Hope you enjoy your new tractor.
