I am afraid Mahindra has a weak dealer network. I bought a Mahindra from a JD Dealer. Original owner traded it in because it was too big for his application. One of the reasons I bought it was because we had a good dealer, also a New Holland dealer, 40 miles away. They had sold Mahindra's for 5+ years. After I took delivery, the New Holland dealer dropped Mahindra. Now my closest dealers are 70 to 100 miles away and are lawn mower dealers who sells Mahindra on the side. I fear I replaced an orphan with an orphan! Have put 200+ hours on the 5155 and couldn't be happier. Discovered the weak dealership network when trying to diagnose the 4 way light switch failure.

i wanted to say i love this thing when it works. but.... have had a few issues which just stop it from working. also the dealers or lack thereof is a major issue.
i have always spoke highly basically about my max25. but it has had some issues as i said. resolution is an issue and i am not as knowledgeable as most of you people which doesn;t help.

BlackOps, I don't know if this might help but I have had excellent help from Dave's Tractor Inc. when needed.

My brother was shopping for his first tractor… he said there is Mahindra not far and the price is better… the outfit sells trailers and brought in tractors on the side… the shop repairs trailers…

I suggested Kubota L3800 and threw in my loyalty discount at the time… brother is happy with the L3800

sorry for the delays in replying - i struggled to sort out this problem and yes - maybe it was the problem a year-and-a-half ago too. Due to same symptoms. Not sure whay the old dealer and mechanic could not find and figure it out since i was pointing to the possible problem to begin with.

a number of years ago i replaced the solenoid for starting issues. the elctrical connection parts the way they have it leaves it susceptible to access to rain and moisture etc. and the hood and collar and back of dashboard hood does not seeal correctly for many reasons. sitting outside 24/7 and with intense storms etc., the connections were all waterlogged. i knew it could be the solenoid but seriously did not expect the connection to be so bad and the ultimate cuplrit. i did not go out to try it again today to get stuff done, so i probably should not be posting this without checking it today, but... I will be trying it again within the next couple of days due to weather stuff. so ----- hopefully that was it. he also did check various fuses and all oed ok.

i was told by the mechanic - key switch - so i bought one and put it in - no fix - so now i have the new one in and the old one in my shed. they he said maybe a starter relay or was it a glow plug relay - but by that time i said... uh huh - no way. so that is the tales of my max 25 starting issues over the years. damn nice machine for my needs when it works - but....slit my throat when it doesnt.

just a joke....

When I clean any electrical connection, I use electrical antioxidant grease. Especially on high amperage connections on the starting circuit.
I stopped buying premanufactured battery terminal wires. They all seem to have the same low quality.

I buy welding cable and solder the copper lugs on.
Welding cable is only sold in black locally, so I put 3' of red shrink tubing on both ends of the positive cable.

It's also good to put black shrink tubing on the ends of the ends of the negative cable putting plenty of antioxidant electrical grease on the ends.

Welding cable is better because it has a lot more strands of wire compared to premade cables and its made for high amperage.

A wire can go bad inside of the cable sheath. If you see green oxidation on the end of a cable that oxidation can travel all the way through the cable under the wire's insulation. It's like a cancer.
If a wire gets hot the wire or the starter needs to be looked at.

Parasitic draw of voltage feeds oxidation. Electrolysis.

I have a New Holland LX 865 that I struggled with intermittent problems loosing the module voltage. I chased wires for months.
One fuse box in the engine compartment an another overhead inside the cab. All the fuses were good. One day my knuckle bumped the fuse holder inside the cab and a relay rattled. The fuses in that fuse holder were all lose. The clips weren't making good contact.
What a chincy POS, I bought and replaced it with a ten-position fuse holder from the parts store with screw on terminal connections. Problems solved.
Wiggle the fuses

By the time a tractor that either sits outside or in a uncontrolled environment is five years old wiring is starting to oxidize.
Wiring harnesses are all crimped connections that are poor quality. IMOP
Now I'm rambling

Well, to be fair, it does sound like the tractor is a piece of sh*t :D Don't blame the man for being mad.
Okay, I'm sorry Ptsg. It's probably his lack of knowledge and the dealers ineptness that kept it down for 11 out 12 mos last year
Either way it a bad way to go.
It wasn't down for 11 months, he said he used it all summer, after he said down for 11 months.

jesus christ some of you are dumb.

i said - and now specific: in 24 -spring of 25 it was down for 11 months out of 12. late spring of 25 until winter of 25 it worked and then just before the last storm no start yet again. i did not feel the exact dates and times was so necessary for my point and problem. WTF!

i do not know what a lot of you know - so this WAS 1 learning experience. I was thinking in the correct direction re: solenoid - ust should have looked closer into it is all. but knowing the little i know - i hated to mess around too much

if it is not broke then don;t fix it - and if you can't fix it then don't break it. tthe last part of the sentence was where i am at... i hated to start messing around...
i appreciate everyone's positive advice. it has been a nightmare for sure. happy so far today when it started and i used it for my work.

For a longterm fix, peace of mind, stress reduction, etc. I would sell or trade it. Trading to a dealer may leave you feeling less guilty about the next guy.
IN any case life is too short for sh*t that don't work. GL

lastly i am 85 and have had 7 major surgeries the last few years so the last couple of years are a blur!

i am sure most of you do not keep a running daily diary of all of your work and fixes and stuff you encounter on an hourly/daily/weekly basis etc. there are some great people here but here are a few... ratther disgusting...

I don't usually do this but I'm making an exception being sympathetic about your age and condition. The internet forums are full of all sorts of people. And some of these people tend to post things they wouldn't say to your face. All you can do is ignore what you believe is total BS and take away whatever good you can find. Don't let it get to you, you will live longer, happier. Good Luck with the tractor.

thanks scootr. yes there are some fine people here. and some pick apart a statement re: trivial info if you get what i mean. cannot help but tick one off a bit. like a fbi/cia interrogation. geeeez!

Hopefully it will continue to start for you.

When you suspect wet wiring, you can spray WD 40 on suspected wiring connections that are exposed and easy to get to.

WD 40 stands for, Water, Displacement, 40th formula

Hopefully your medical issues settle down and give you more tractor time. Tractor time is good time.

A forum member that recently passed liked to nit-pick wording that people used often overlooking the main point, issue. It's frustrating defending every word written when it's not important, the amount of down time wasn't relevant in helping you
Sometimes they do it without reading the whole thread.

Scooter has it right in post #34

Thanks - i figured i'd get a bunch of backlash for my aggressive response. the main point was the starting issue and indirectly - poor dealership dynamics. last year does not equate to jan 1 - dec 31 - my year of problems overlapped 2 separate years and then came back again in the overlapped 2nd yr.

enough said.

have a good one.

lastly - i bet you there is not 1 serious mahindra dealer with a decent mechanic and shop within 100 miles of me. i did talk to john deere service dept and that was a total joke. the kubota dealer was also total nonsense. so i was stuck and ended up frustrated big time.

Since you've explained the back story, I went back and re-read your initial post; now it makes sense to me.
I'm 83, had gall bladder removed 3 years ago due to Septis, and my body is not the same either. I apologize for my assumption.

Totally disagree. This sounds like a dealer that did not have a Good mechanic, and has missed the the root cause.

OP, Is this "no start" a basic: the engine does not turn over??
or it cranks and cranks but does not start ? and runs the battery down?

If the former I think it is something simple but the actual root cause must be found and remedied.

To many parts changers at dealerships these days, that just do not have really good troubleshooting skills. jmo.

Any idea of what is preventing the start? What has been tried by the dealer? Max 25 is a Mitsubishi built machine isn’t it?
Yes, its was made by Mitsubishi in Japan.
