Workmaster 25S 2025

I have a Workmaster 25s
I was using the pto and bogged the engine down where it stalled. On restarting the engine all seemed normal. When I engaged the pto it would not work. The pto light came on but would not engage my Stump Grinder. I removed the grinder to check everything and now the pto seems to operate normally. I have not hooked up the grinder so I'm not sure if it will operate normally under a load. My question is did the pto disconnect due to heat or something? Trans fluid seems normal in color but I'm still not sure if I smoked the clutch. The tractor only has 25 hrs on it and it is a 2025-year model.

Is there a shear bolt on the PTO shaft to the grinder? I imagine it may have sheared.

Is your grinder rated correctly for a 25 HP tractor? Remember the ratings are usually PTO HP which is probably closer to 19 or 20.

Agree. It sounds like it is in the grinder or PTO connecting shaft, not in the tractor PTO itself. Some tractor PTOs do have an internal on/off clutch plus an over-running ratchet clutch and possibly a slip clutch to protect against sudden overloads as well.
But those are all real sturdy; doubt you "smoked" any of them.

Look to the PTO shaft for a shear bolt and grinder head or some load/slip mechanism like ptsg says. My guess is the grinder protected itself just like it is supposed to do,
